Gordon (personal) was reinstated from the paternity list Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Gordon will return to the team after a three-game absence. He'll likely resume his normal role as a regular in the Royals' outfield, although he'll need to improve upon his .506 OPS this season in order to maintain regular playing time. To make room for him on the roster, Nathan Karns (forearm) was placed on the 10-day disabled list.

Gordon was officially placed on the paternity list after Game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader against the Twins.
EDGE Analysis
The Royals will be without their veteran left fielder for Game 2 of Sunday's doubleheader as well as the first two games of their series against the Yankees. Jorge Bonifacio will get the start in left field against Adalberto Mejia and the Twins for the series finale.

Gordon will begin a three-day paternity leave following Game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader against the Twins, Rustin Dodd of The Kansas City Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gordon will be away from the team for the next three days as he and his wife are expecting a child. Jorge Bonifacio will likely fill his void in left field in the meantime.

Gordon is not in the lineup Thursday against the Yankees, Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gordon has hits in two of his past three games, but he's still hitting just .105 against lefties this season, so he'll sit out with southpaw Jordan Montgomery throwing for New York on Thursday. Jorge Bonifacio will man left field in his stead.

Gordon (groin) will start in left field and bat eighth Sunday against the Orioles, 610 Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gordon ended up sitting out Saturday's game with the groin injury, but that was apparently all the time off he needed to get over the issue. While it looks like Gordon will be a full go heading into the new week, it's becoming increasingly difficult to justify keeping him active in fantasy leagues. Over his last nine games, he's recorded one hit in 27 at-bats, dropping his season slash line to a deplorable .157/.266/.198 over 139 plate appearances.

Gordon (groin) is not in the lineup Saturday against the Orioles, 610 Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Although his groin injury is not considered too serious, the Royals are continuing to play things safely with Gordon by keeping him out of action Saturday. His availability for Sunday's contest is still up in the air, but Jorge Bonifacio will take over in left field in the meantime.

Gordon, who was lifted from Friday's game due to tightness in his right groin, was pulled as a precautionary measure, MLB.com's Jeffrey Flanagan reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gordon appeared to suffer the injury lunging for a line drive that was hit over his head in the top of the seventh inning. The fact that the club mentioned the outfielder's removal was precautionary suggests he won't be out long. Gordon is day-to-day as of now, but it wouldn't be a surprise -- especially considering how awful he's played -- if the club uses this opportunity to give him a weekend to catch his breath.

Gordon was forced to leave Friday's game in the seventh inning with right groin tightness, Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gordon has been so bad this season (.157/.266/.198) that it wasn't too surprising to see the Royals send up a pinch-hitter for him in the seventh, even if it was the light-hitting Jorge Bonifacio. The Royals are calling Gordon day-to-day for now, but considering the way his season is going so far, a few days off might be the best thing for him. The Royals have an off-day Monday, so if the injury is minor, Gordon should avoid a disabled list stint.

Gordon played center field for the first time in his 11-year career on Wednesday, and he's penciled in to make his first ever start at the position Thursday against Tampa Bay.
EDGE Analysis
Gordon took over for Lorenzo Cain (rest) in center field in the bottom of the seventh inning Wednesday. The very first batter of the inning for the Rays, Logan Morrison, hit a shot to right-center field. Gordon, a four-time Gold Glove winner, crashed into the wall while making an outstanding leaping catch. Now, for the first time in his career, the veteran will view the game's first pitch from center field. With the team looking to manage Cain's health, it wouldn't be a surprise to see Gordon get enough time at the position to unlock eligibility there.

Gordon's offensive woes have mystified the entire Royals organization, Nick Cafardo of The Boston Globe reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ever since Gordon inked a $72 million contract to re-sign with the club in 2016, things have gone downhill. Gordon's defense remains a strong point, but his hitting has been a concern. The 33-year-old hit just .220 last season with an OPS of .692. Through 29 games this year, he's slashing .171/.269/.219 with no home runs. "He's one of those guys who feels he has to live up to his contract," said one Royals official. "He cares so much that it just looks like he's pressing as a result. Believe me, it's a mystery to all of us. It's gone on for quite a while and we all hope he goes back to being that special ballplayer." For fantasy owners, trading Gordon at such a low point isn't wise. Yet, holding onto him over blooming waiver players is tough, too.
