Simmonds hit a new career-high by scoring his 30th goal of the season. The net front specialist has seen a boost in his numbers this season, as he has also hit a career-high in assists with 28. The Flyers know what they have in Simmonds and he is getting rewarded with huge power play minutes. Simmonds will look to add his name to the stat sheet in the Flyers final two games as they push for a playoff spot.

He's on a three-game, five-point streak right now and has 16 points, including seven goals, in his last 17 games. Simmonds has been instrumental in the Flyers' run toward a wild card berth and now has 28 goals and 56 points on the season. Factor in his 141 PIM, 182 hits and 212 shots, and you have one of the league's best fantasy producers.

The win puts the Flyers just two points ahead of Detroit in the playoff, so Simmonds has every reason to play hard in the final six games. He's seven points away from matching his career high, and he'll look to feast on the poor defensive play of Ottawa at home on Saturday.

With 51 points in 73 games, Simmonds has quietly put together a strong season. He's got nine more games to eclipse his career mark of 60 points, and with the Flyers pushing hard for the playoffs, it's not out of the question.

Dating back to Jan. 25, Simmonds has now successfully produced at a point-per-game clip with 20 points in his last 20 games. It's a shame he and the rest of the Flyers weren't able to put it together sooner in the season, as their backs are still very much up against the wall in a hunt for a playoff spot that will likely not come to fruition. Nonetheless, with the recent outburst, Simmonds is up to 24 goals and 22 assists to go with 129 PIM in 65 games this year.

Simmonds produced in a big way Monday, scoring two goals, skating to a plus-2 and firing six shots on goal. He also was assessed a minor penalty for good measure.
