Simmonds continues to produce solid numbers for fantasy owners. His offensive production and ability to bruise opponents and repent accordingly in the sin bin make him a unique fantasy commodity. He faces the Hurricanes in Carolina on Tuesday.

Simmonds scored his 10th power-play goal and 21st overall this year to go with a power-play assist, a plus-1 rating and four hits in Tuesday's win over the Devils.

That's three consecutive seasons now with double-digit power-play goals for Simmonds, who provides an uncommon fantasy package of special-teams productivity in combination with prolific PIM and hit totals. The great thing about owning the 27-year-old Ontarian in specialty formats is that even when he misses the scoresheet, he still puts up those tough-guy stats.

Simmonds added a goal in Thursday's 5-1 drubbing of the Sabres.

That's goal number 20 for the lengthy winger, whose 36 points and 110 PIM are only dampened by his minus-7 rating. With just under 30 games to play, Simmer looks poised to surpass his totals from last year, but still fall short of career highs.

Simmonds has avoided supplemental discipline from the league after receiving a match penalty Saturday, and will be in the lineup Sunday to take on Washington, Dave Isaac of the Courier-Post reports.

Since being moved to the top line with Claude Giroux and Jake Voracek, Simmer has six goals and eight points in his last five games. Simmonds was ejected Saturday afternoon after punching Rangers defenseman Ryan McDonagh in the head with his glove on. Simmonds received a match penalty and game misconduct, adding up to a whopping 20 penalty minutes in what ended as a 3-2 win for the visiting Rangers.

A match penalty is assessed when there is a deliberate attempt to injury another player. In the first period, McDonagh responded to a hit from Simmonds by cross-checking him near his upper-body. The gesture didn't go over well with Simmonds as he slashed the defenseman and punched him in the face, resulting in McDonagh leaving the game with an apparent injury after 4:21 of ice time. Thirteen penalties were handed out in this contest - including slashing and hi-sticking minors for McDonagh. Per NHL rules, Simmonds is suspended as a result of the match penalty, pending official review by league Commissioner Gary Bettman.

Simmonds exploded for two more goals -- one on the power play -- and an assist Thursday in a 6-3 victory at Nashville. He added two PIM and a plus-3 rating.

Simmonds has been burning it up over the last five games, racking up six goals and three helpers, and it's caused him to slow down his PIM production a bit, well, fantasy owners aren't complaining. After all, he's picked up a power-play point in every game of this streak and is still providing a strong dose of hits.

Simmonds took eight shots and scored two goals -- one on the power play -- in Tuesday's 4-2 victory over the Canadiens.

EDGE Analysis

That's now four goals and six points in the last four games for Simmonds, who's taken a stunning 24 shots on goal in that span. Like most of the Flyers, he slumped through the beginning of the season, but January was Simmonds' best month (nine points in 11 games) and February is certainly off to a fine start. His combination of power-play production and pugilism remains quite welcome on fantasy rosters of nearly all shapes and sizes.

Simmonds scored both Philadelphia goals Monday but it wasn't enough in a 3-2 loss to the visiting Bruins. He also fired a whopping nine shots on goal.

EDGE Analysis

Simmonds threw a ton of rubber at Tuukka Rask but wasn't able to deliver the hat trick in a game where he also racked up five hits and a minor penalty. He's now got 14 goals to go with his 14 assists, 88 PIM and 111 shots on goal this season and will continue to be relied upon by Philly for secondary scoring behind Claude Giroux and Jakub Voracek.

He nearly had himself a three-game goal streak and a game-winner, but referees called him for interference on goalkeeper Petr Mrazek. He does, however, own a three-game points streak, and he'll see if it continues when he faces the Maple Leafs Tuesday at home.

EDGE Analysis

Goals in back-to-back games has Simmonds inching up toward a high-20s goal pace, where you hope to see him. The production has come a little slower this year, but it's a good sign that the well is far from dry.
