Tyler Johnson had the game-winning goal in Thursday's 4-2 triumph against Edmonton. His fourth goal of the year snapped a four-game pointless slide for the Lightning forward. Johnson has seven points in 15 games this campaign.

Tyler Johnson had a goal and an assist in the Lightning's 3-2 win over the Sabres on Saturday. The 23-year-old might only have three goals and six points on the year, but he might end up a sneaky-good play this season as he's coming off two straight 31-plus goal seasons in the AHL. Martin St. Louis and Ondrej Palat picked up the other markers for the Lightning.

Tyler Johnson extended his modest point streak to three games by scoring a power-play goal Thursday night. He has generated four points in seven contests. Johnson has also been excellent in the faceoff circle, where he's won 60.4 percent of the 91 draws he's taken to place himself fifth in the league.

Tyler Johnson is currently 15th in the league with a 58.2 winning percentage on faceoffs. Lightning centers Valterri Filppula and Steve Stamkos have taken more draws than Johnson this season, but his winning percentage has been the best so far among the team's players that qualify for the league leader list. Filppula isn't far behind though with a 56.4 winning percentage.

Tyler Johnson notched a goal and an assist in Tampa Bay's 3-2 overtime preseason win over Florida Thursday night. Richard Panik scored a shorthanded marker in the contest and Nikita Kucherov provided the game-winning goal with 55 seconds left in the extra session. Johnson and Panik are in the mix for roster spots, while Kucherov probably isn't far away from being an NHLer.

Tampa Bay Lightning GM Steve Yzerman plans to fill out the rest of the roster with players from the club's AHL affiliate in Syracuse. Tyler Johnson, for one, is expected to get a shot at the second-line center role vacated when the Lightning bought out Vincent Lecavalier. Richard Panik, Ondrej Palat, J.T. Brown and Brett Connolly will also compete with Johnson for one or two forward spots, while Brian Lee, Mark Barberio, Matt Taormina and Andrej Sustr are expected to compete for one spot on defense. "Some of them have played two full years in the minors and done very well. I have to give them an opportunity to take a step forward right now," Yzerman said.

AHL MVP Tyler Johnson could be a replacement for Vincent Lecavalier on the Lightning's second line. Johnson led the AHL in goals this season with 37 and stands to at least get a chance to compete for the spot that will be vacated once Tampa Buy buys out Lecavalier. The Lightning could also insert Vladislav Namestnikov into that spot after the 2011 first-round pick completed his first pro season with the team's AHL affiliate. A third option is Alexander Barkov and Nathan MacKinnon, one of which should be available when Tampa Bay selects third overall in Sunday's draft.

Tyler Johnson is leading Tampa's AHL affiliate, the Syracuse Crunch, in post-season goal scoring. The Crunch are going to the Calder Cup finals (the second year in a row that a Tampa affiliate is playing for the AHL championship) and Johnson (9 goals and 17 points in 12 games) is one of the main reasons why. Ondrej Palat has also been outstanding with five goals and 20 points in 12 playoff games. With up and coming rearguard Radko Gudas and promising forwards Vladislav Namestnikov and Brett Connolly, the Bolts look to be in good shape for years to come.

Tyler Johnson has been selected as the AHL's MVP for the 2012-13 campaign. Johnson had 33 goals and 60 points in 60 games. He also has three goals and six points in 14 contests with the Tampa Bay Lightning. Johnson was undrafted, but inked an entry-level contract with Tampa Bay towards the end of his monster 115-point WHL campaign in 2010-11. He also scored 31 goals and 68 points in 75 AHL contests last season.
