Tyler Johnson was re-assigned to Syracuse of the AHL. As Tampa has no chance to make the playoffs and Syracuse will be in the post season, the Bolts felt Johnson would be better served getting key minutes in the AHL. He is a rising star and will be back in 2013-14 as a key contributor. Remember his name on draft day.

Tyler Johnson scored twice in Tampa Bay's 5-3 loss Saturday. Teddy Purcell netted his seventh goal of the season. Eric Brewer, Richard Panik, Matt Carle, Victor Hedman, and Sami Salo each registered an assist for Tampa Bay.

Tyler Johnson will be recalled from AHL Syracuse with Vincent Lecavalier injured. The Lightning placed Lecavalier on injured reserve Thursday and coach Guy Boucher said Johnson would get a promotion to the big club. Johnson is second in the AHL scoring race with 58 points (32 goals, 26 assists) in 59 games.

Tyler Johnson is getting close to playing in the NHL, but for now he wants to continue honing his skills in the minors with AHL Syracuse. "I think even this year I have gotten smarter with the puck, smarter with my decisions with the puck and just being able to do that. So that's been good," he said. "I've gotten stronger which is something that I've always needed to do and got heavier which I've never been able to do before up until this year. The summer was a good summer for me there is a lot that I've grown as a person as a player but there's still a lot more that I need to do and I realize that. (But) we are really just focused on playing our game here and winning games here and getting better as players and people; when it's our time it will be our time." He has recorded eight goals and 12 points in 11 games this season after he generated a total of 68 points over 75 contests in his rookie year during the 2011-12 campaign. The undrafted free agent signing appears to be another good one, after Cory Conacher, in Tampa Bay's system.

Tyler Johnson leads the Syracuse Crunch with eight goals so far this season. The eight goals are good for third most in the AHL so far. Johnson's 12 points are tied with Ondrej Palat for second most on the team.

Tyler Johnson had two goals in Syracuse's 4-1 triumph over Hamilton on Friday night. Johnson was signed by the Lightning as an undrafted free agent last March so he really doesn't have a lot of hype attached to him. Still, he's got eight goals and 12 points this year after a 68-point campaign last season. He's only 22 years old, and there's something to be said for performing in order to make an organization find room for you.
