Krug set up all three goals in Boston's 6-3 loss to the Lightning on Monday. He also fired three shots on goal for the third game in a row.
EDGE Analysis
With the departure of Dougie Hamilton to Calgary in the offseason and the rapid decline of veteran Zdeno Chara, Krug is now the go-to offensive blueliner in Beantown. He's posted point totals of 39 and 40 in his first two full NHL seasons, so it's very realistic to expect an uptick in production this year -- especially given the oodles of power-play time he's likely to receive. Through three games, the 24-year-old has already spent 9:34 on the man advantage.

Krug is hoping to step into a bigger role on the Boston blue line following the offseason trade of Dougie Hamilton, the Boston Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Krug managed to record 39 points in 78 games last season, while working mostly on the Bruins' third defensive pairing and as a power-play specialist. However, with Hamilton no longer in the mix, a top-four role is Krug's for the taking and with the potential for a bigger role this season, the 5-foot-9, 181 pounder's already respectable fantasy numbers could see something of an uptick.

Krug will represent the United States in the 2015 World Hockey Championship, which runs from May 1-17 in the Czech Republic.
Though Krug would no doubt prefer to be playing in the NHL playoffs, his first time playing for Team USA should be a good experience for the 24 year-old blueliner, on the heels of a season in which he recorded 39 points in 78 games for Boston. Though the Bruins figure to see their share of offseason personnel changes, Krug will return to the team in 2015-16, at which time he'll continue to be a mainstay on the team's blue line, as well as a key power play cog. It's an assignment that will keep Krug on the fantasy radar as he approaches his third full season at the NHL level.

Krug recorded an assist in Thursday's 4-2 loss to the Panthers.
Krug, who recorded eight shots in the game, after firing six shots in Wednesday's loss to the Caps, brought ample energy to Thursday's contest, but the same cannot be said of the team as a whole, with the Bruins now needing plenty of help in order to secure a playoff spot. To date, Krug has recorded 12 goals and 38 points in 77 games, to go along with a plus-12 rating.

Krug registered a team-high six shots on goal in Wednesday's 3-0 loss to the Capitals.
His team has had a disappointing season, but Krug has been a bright spot on a struggling blue line. He currently has 12 goals and 25 assists in 76 games, and should take on more responsibility next season.

Krug (illness) is taking part in pregame warmups and looks on track to play Thursday against the Red Wings, Steve Conroy of the Boston Herald reports.
Krug was feeling under the weather earlier in the morning, but the illness doesn't appear to be significant enough to cost him any game action. He's expected to pair up with Dennis Seidenberg during Thursday's game.

Krug, who is under the weather, is considered probable for Thursday's game against the Red Wings.
As a precaution, the B's recalled blueliner Joe Morrow, so those considering Krug for their Thursday lineups will want to verify his status when the Bruins take their pre-game warmups.

Krug recorded an assist in his third consecutive game Sunday against the Hurricanes.
The blueliner also put six shots on net in the 2-1 win, which matched his highest total for the season. With Dougie Hamilton missing the previous four games and perhaps out for the remainder of the regular season, Krug has taken on a larger role for the Bruins, surpassing 21 minutes of ice time during three of those four games. That's a fairly noticeable increase from the 19:27 TOI Krug has been averaging for the season.

Krug scored a goal, added a power-play assist, went plus-1 and gathered two PIM in Thursday's loss to the Senators.
The offensively gifted defenseman hadn't been finding much luck on the scoresheet of late -- he'd tallied just a lonely assist in his prior nine games -- but you can't keep him down too long. Still, fantasy owners who drafted Krug this year likely did so with the thought that he'd exceed last year's offensive production; instead, he'll have to pick up the pace a bit in the season's final weeks just to match the 40 points he collected in 2013-14.

Krug signed a one-year, $3.4 million contract extension with the Bruins on Friday, Joe Haggerty of CSN New England reports.
Krug was slated to become a restricted free agent this summer, but the extension ensures the defenseman will be locked in for another season with the B's. The 23-year-old has been outstanding in his first two full seasons in the NHL, tallying 25 goals and 71 points across 138 games. Assuming his production doesn't tail off significantly in 2015-16, look for the Bruins to make a long-term extension offer to Krug as soon as next year.
