Tomas Vokoun allowed three goals on 23 shots as the Penguins were beaten by New Jersey by a score of 3-1 Sunday. Perhaps this will quiet some of the talk about him usurping Marc-Andre Fleury as the Pens starting goaltender, which was a senseless notion to begin with. Vokoun is capable of holding down a starting gig, but Pittsburgh certainly won't break its allegiance to Fleury.

Look for Tomas Vokoun to be between the pipes at home against the New Jersey Devils Sunday night. Vokoun has made the most of his opportunities this season as the Pittsburgh Penguins' number two goaltender. Vokoun might be the league's best backup netminder and should continue to see his fair share of starts to keep Marc-Andr‚ Fleury well rested for the playoffs. Vokoun should obviously be owned by every Fleury owner as a handcuff but he's also a very nice option as a third goaltender in every league.

Tomas Vokoun was beaten on a bizarre play on Sunday. Capitals defenseman John Carlson dumped the puck into the Penguins zone from center ice, so Vokoun left the net to play it. However, the puck bounced off the boards and into the empty net. "Now, looking back, it's easy to say maybe I should wait until you can see where it's going to hit on the glass," he said. "It's a tough bounce. You freeze, and there's nothing you can do." At the time it tied the game at 2, but Pittsburgh still ended up winning 6-3.

Tomas Vokoun continues to make the most of his opportunities this season, collecting his third win of 2013 as the Pittsburgh Penguins beat the Washington Capitals 6-3. Vokoun is now 3-1-0 on the season. His numbers weren't great on Sunday (three goals allowed on 24 shots), yet the Penguins must feel immensely confident whenever they decide to give Marc-Andre Fleury a breather - or a kick in the pants. One cannot help but wonder if Vokoun has some serious trade value too, though.

Tomas Vokoun will play between the pipes on Sunday against his former team, the Washington Capitals. Vokoun has gotten off to a great start with a 1.81 GAA and .940 save percentage. He's getting more playing time than we would have though as the Pittsburgh Penguins' number two goaltender and that makes him a viable option if you're hurting for goaltending help.

Tomas Vokoun turned aside all 28 shots he faced in a 3-0 blanking of the New York Rangers Thursday. The goose egg was his first of the season and it lifted his record to 2-1-0. Marc-Andre Fleury has had some consistency issues early into this year but he still is not in danger his starting gig to Vokoun. However, if you have Fleury, it would be a good idea to hedge your bets and use Vokoun as a handcuff.

Tomas Vokoun should be considered Pittsburgh's probable starter for Thursday's match against the Rangers. He was the first goalie off the ice from the team's morning skate, which indicates he will get the nod. If Vokoun does play it will mark his third start of the season. He has posted a 1-1-0 record with a .917 save percentage and a 2.59 GAA in three appearances with the Penguins.

Tomas Vokoun allowed three goals on 34 shots in a 6-3 win over the New York Rangers Sunday. Vokoun might be the league's best backup netminder and he proved capable tonight by holding off one of the league's better clubs. Expect him to see his share of action, but don't expect him to wrest the starter's role away from Marc-Andre Fleury.
