Tomas Vokoun will get the nod for Pittsburgh in Friday's match versus the New York Islanders. He has emerged victorious in his past four outings and has looked much better in his last two starts. Vokoun has a 7-3-0 record this year, but his .903 save percentage and 2.88 GAA don't inspire much confidence.

All of a sudden, Tomas Vokoun is starting to look like the valuable backup people were hoping for. After allowing six goals in the first victory in his four-game winning streak, Vokoun had a shutout and two one-goal games to indicate that he's heating up. Still, he's not getting a ton of reps as this was his first start in a week. If he can wrestle a few more starts from Marc-Andre Fleury, he could be well worth having. Right now he's just so-so in deeper leagues, though.

Tomas Vokoun allowed just one goal on 24 shots Sunday as the Penguins clobbered the Islanders by a score of 6-1. This was one of the easier outings Vokoun has had, as his teammates provided him with quite the support. The win is the third straight decision that has gone in his favor, although his individual stats leave something to be desired.

Tomas Vokoun stopped 33 of 39 shots in a 7-6 overtime win on Saturday. On the plus side, this was Vokoun's first victory since Feb. 3. On the downside, he has now allowed six goals in two of his last three starts. Vokoun certainly isn't as bad as his horrendous statistics suggest, but he's also not giving starting goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury anything to worry about.

Tomas Vokoun will start Saturday against Montreal. Coach Dan Bylsma just confirmed it. Adjust your goaltending rotation accordingly.

Tomas Vokoun yielded four goals on 22 shots in a 6-4 loss to Florida Tuesday night. Marc-Andre Fleury entered the contest in relief during the second period after Marcel Goc scored to give the Panthers a 4-1 lead. The Penguins battled back to tie it before the end of the period, but Fleury allowed the game-winning goal early in the third period. Fleury made 12 saves on 13 shots in the match. Vokoun has been burned for 10 goals against in his last two appearances.

The Pittsburgh Penguins are expected to start Tomas Vokoun in goal Tuesday night. Vokoun's last start wasn't exactly stellar. The Pens' backup netminder allowed six goals on 32 shots in a loss to the rival Flyers and has struggled mightily this season. We don't recommend starting the veteran except in the deepest of leagues.

Tomas Vokoun stopped just 26 of 32 shots in a 6-5 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers. Vokoun looked weak in his sixth start of the season and it's becoming a recurring theme. He's allowed at least three goals in five of his starts. This defeat also ended the Penguins' three-game winning streak.

Pittsburgh coach Dan Bylsma will start Tomas Vokoun against Philadelphia Wednesday night. "Tomas hasn't played in a while," Bylsma said. "I wanted him to play against Philly at some point this season." Marc-Andre Fleury has been playing well of late with a 3-0 record and a 2.00 GAA in his past three starts, but he'll get the night off. Fleury beat the Flyers earlier this season, but struggled mightily against them in the 2012 playoffs.

Tomas Vokoun was the first goalie off the ice Wednesday morning and appears to starting for Pittsburgh against Philadelphia. He hasn't started since Feb. 10 when he lost 3-1 to New Jersey. Marc-Andre Fleury has won his past three outings, so it was expected he would get the nod, but that apparently won't be the case.
