Thomas Kaberle says that "both sides need to smarten up," and he remains one of the rare optimistic players as the work stoppage continues. The defenseman endured the lockout in 2004-05, but thinks this one feels different. "I was always positive," said Kaberle. "If I have to think of 2005 and now, I have to say I'm more positive this time around because everybody is on the same page and it makes a big difference for every one of us as a group." While the sources of disagreement are clear, the union and the players' association still aren't seeing eye to eye on how to find common ground. "Both sides need to smarten up," Kaberle said. "Everybody is missing hockey, obviously. Just have to be calm and practise every day and get ready for the season to start."

Tomas Kaberle is heading back to North America now that his one-month Czech League contract has expired. Kaberle has been playing for Kladno. He has two goals and six points in 10 games. It remains to be seen if he'll sign another European contract.

Tomas Kaberle scored a goal in Kladno's 3-1 win over Liberec. It was Kaberle's first goal of the 2012-13 Czech League season. He has five points in nine games with Kladno.

Tomas Kaberle has decided to join the Czech League's HC Kladno during the lockout. The defenseman will be teammates of a number of NHLers on HC Kladno. Kaberle had 31 points in 72 games last year split with the Hurricanes and Canadiens.

Tomas Kaberle (upper body) is hopeful that he will be back before the end of the season. "I hope I'll be able to play. We'll have to see how it goes over the next couple of days and I still have to talk to the doctors, but we'll see again on Wednesday morning," he said. "I would have liked to play over the weekend, but sometimes plans like that just don't work out. It was the coaches and the doctors' decision. I haven't been cleared to play in a game yet, but at least I'm cleared to practice." Kaberle has missed the past nine contests with an upper-body injury.

Tomas Kaberle (upper body) took part in Monday's practice, but he isn't projected to play Tuesday versus the visiting Florida Panthers. He originally sustained the injury on Mar. 10, but he played in the team's next game against Buffalo before missing the contest after to be with his newborn son.

Tomas Kaberle will miss Saturday's game because of an upper body injury. Kaberle didn't play on Wednesday because his wife was in labor and he also didn't participate in Friday's contest. Kaberle has three goals and 31 points in 70 games this season.
