Thomas Kaberle says that "both sides need to smarten up," and he remains one of the rare optimistic players as the work stoppage continues.
The defenseman endured the lockout in 2004-05, but thinks this one feels different. "I was always positive," said Kaberle. "If I have to think of 2005 and now, I have to say I'm more positive this time around because everybody is on the same page and it makes a big difference for every one of us as a group." While the sources of disagreement are clear, the union and the players' association still aren't seeing eye to eye on how to find common ground. "Both sides need to smarten up," Kaberle said. "Everybody is missing hockey, obviously. Just have to be calm and practise every day and get ready for the season to start."
