Tom Wilson (ankle) should be fine for the start of training camp, according to coach Barry Trotz.
Wilson had 10 points and 151 penalty minutes in 82 games last season. He was used sparingly, averaging just 7:56 minutes per game as a rookie.

Tom Wilson has sustained an ankle injury.
Wilson is being evaluated and there's no timetable for his recovery yet. Even if he ends up being projected to return in time for the 2014-15 campaign, this might significantly hinder his summer workout routine.

Tom Wilson, 19, has skated only 503 minutes with the Washington Capitals this season, by far the fewest of the nine teenage NHL rookies who have played at least 50 games this season.
Wilson has scored only three goals and nine points in his limited playing time and has spent more of the year illustrating his grit. The Toronto native ranks fourth in the NHL with 133 penalty minutes and is tied for second in major penalties (13), including 12 fights. But Wilson wants to work toward making a greater impact on the Capitals. "I don't know how many fights I have this year, but I've done that enough. I want to work on my game and keep learning the other stuff," Wilson said.

Tom Wilson might be suspended for charging Brayden Schenn on Tuesday.
Wilson was ejected from Tuesday's game as a result. There was some initial concern that Schenn might have sustained a concussion as he ended up slamming head-first into the end boards, but fortunately he seems to have escaped with just some stiffness. Wilson has a phone hearing scheduled for Thursday, which means he can't be suspended for more than five games.

Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson was ejected from Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers for charging Brayden Schenn, who seems OK as of this writing.
Wilson racked up a staggering 20 PIM thanks to that altercation. It's unlikely that made a big impact for fantasy owners, as he's (rightfully) only owned in 1 percent of leagues. The winger could be more prominent in the future, though.

Tom Wilson skipped Thursday's practice because of family reasons.
He's expected to be back in Washington on Friday. The Capitals don't play again until Saturday night against Nashville, so we'll leave Wilson as active.

Tom Wilson won't be loaned to Canada's World Junior Championships squad.
The Washington Capitals want to keep him on their NHL roster. "He means too much to our team and it's best for his development to stay with the Capitals," said GM George McPhee in a statement. In 27 games with the Caps this season, Wilson has four points and 53 penalty minutes.

Tom Wilson won't be returned to the OHL Plymouth Whalers this season.
The Capitals have decided to continue Wilson's development with the NHL club. He has no points in seven contests and is averaging just 6:42 minutes per game, so we don't expect him to have any fantasy value in 2013-14.

The motive for trading Mathieu Perreault on Sunday was pretty obvious: the Washington Capitals wanted to make room for large winger Tom Wilson.
Dominating junior-level hockey again wasn't in the best interest of the team or the player, apparently. The 2012 first-rounder (16th overall) might not be ready to dominate offensively at the NHL level just yet, but he's worth monitoring, at least if he can provide some supplementary stats like PIM as a budding power forward.
