Coach Barry Trotz acknowledged Tuesday that Wilson (ankle) could return to the Washington lineup Oct. 29 against the Red Wings, Alex Prewitt of the Washington Post reports. Wilson, who was sent out on a rehab assignment at AHL Hershey on Monday, will play in two minor league games over the weekend, logging top-six minutes in each tilt. If his ankle holds up fine, Wilson will rejoin the Capitals for practice on Monday, when the team returns from its three-game road trip through western Canada. Trotz will then have to decide if he wants to slot Wilson back into his bottom-six, most likely at the expense of Liam O'Brien or Chris Brown.

The Capitals reassigned Wilson (ankle) to AHL Hershey on Monday. Wilson has been on IR with an ankle injury, and will likely use the stint in Hershey to get back up to speed. Expect him to be called back up to the big club when he's healthy.

Capitals head coach Barry Trotz indicated there was an "outside chance" that Wilson (leg) would return to action during the team's upcoming three-game road trip in Western Canada, Alex Prewitt of The Washington Post reports. Wilson (ankle) has yet to play this season as he rehabs from surgery to repair a broken leg sustained during the offseason. Although Wilson might "catch the tail end" of the trip, he is also just as likely to be sent to AHL Hershey for a conditioning assignment, so he's still a risk to add in single season leagues at this time, although the time for his season debut appears to be drawing closer.

Coach Barry Trotz said that Wilson (leg) will not return to action for at least two more games, Alex Prewitt of the Washington Post reports. Wilson resumed practicing earlier this week, but it still sounds like he's a little behind the rest of his mates in terms of conditioning work. Look for the Capitals to send him to AHL Hershey for a rehab assignment before activating him from injured reserve.

Wilson (leg), who was officially placed on injured reserve, was able to practice Tuesday, Alex Prewitt of the Washington Post reports. Wilson appears to be trending toward the finishing line in his recovery from a broken fibula, but it seems likely he'll have to begin his campaign at AHL Hershey, either for rehab action or as a straight-up assignment. The young winger was in the lineup for all 82 games last season but didn't make much of an impact while averaging less than eight minutes per night.

Wilson (leg) may not be ready to play until November, Mike Vogel of the Capitals' website reports. Wilson may plan an expanded role for the Capitals at some point this season, but he has not recovered from offseason surgery as quickly as hoped, and it remains to be seen when he will be able to take the ice next.

The Capitals will place Wilson (leg) on IR for the start of the season, Alex Prewitt of The Washington Post reports. Wilson (leg) hasn't practiced with the team during training camp as he recovers from offseason surgery to repair a broken leg. The power forward is in line for a bigger role than the fourth-line pugilist he played lsat season, so keep an eye on him once he gets back into the lineup as he may have some upside in deeper leagues once he gets healthy and acclimated to the new system.

Wilson (fractured fibula) is not expected to be available for the Capitals' season opener, Alex Prewitt of the Washington Post reports. Wilson hasn't practiced with the Capitals during training camp and could be a candidate for short-term injured reserve, if he fails to make significant progress in the final week leading up to the start of the regular season. Coach Barry Trotz hinted that Wilson could be out until mid-October, but the Capitals haven't committed to an official timetable just yet.

Head coach Barry Trotz is hopeful Wilson (leg) will return to the lineup around the start of the season, but no firm timeline has been established, Alex Prewitt of The Washington Post reports. Wilson underwent surgery to repair a broken fibula, sustained during a fall, in June and is apparently progressing well. With Alex Ovechkin poised to play more at LW and the new coaching staff desiring a greater role for Wilson than the fourth-line pugilist duties he had last season, the door is open for Wilson to gain more quality ice-time if he can return to the lineup in a timely manner. Keep an eye on his progress, as the power-forward could have decent sleeper upside in deeper leagues this season.

Tom Wilson isn't projected to fully recover from his ankle injury until after the start of the Capitals' training camp. Capitals coach Barry Trotz was previously optimistic about Wilson's chances of being ready for the start of camp. Wilson's agent said that his client is still expected to be fine before the end of the preseason though. He suffered the injury during the offseason in a "fall," but other than that the Capitals are being vague on what caused it.
