Steve Ott had a great night even as his teammates struggled quite a bit in a 5-2 loss to the Anaheim Ducks.
Ott scored a goal and an assist, had a +1 rating and an astounding 14-1 faceoff record as it seemed like something good happened for the Dallas Stars every time he was on the ice. His night stands in stark contrast with Stephane Robidas, who had a -4 rating in the game.

Steve Ott criticized Philadelphia coach Peter Laviolette following Wednesday's loss to the Flyers.
Laviolette pushed by Ott and walked down the Stars' tunnel after the first period ahead of the Dallas players. "It's disrespect of our building. Just let our team off," Ott said. "He obviously thought he has a higher power than everybody else and a little bit more arrogance. Of all the coaches in the whole NHL, that's probably the first time I've seen that." The two of them exchanged words, but Laviolette didn't want to comment on the situation after his team's victory. Surprisingly, Ott didn't allow the incident to get the better of him on the ice, as he didn't spend a second in the sin bin, in what was a heated contest. Ott is fourth in the league with 74 PIMs and he has chipped in 15 points as well.

When Steve Ott scored on the power play for the Dallas Stars Thursday it broke a 0-22 slump with the man-advantage, a span of nine games.
The Stars power play has sunk to near the bottom of the standings as they have scored only 12 times in 79 chances. They are the only team in the NHL yet to have a five-on-three opportunity and this is two months into the season. The pp should improve next week with the return of Alex Goligoski to the point.

The Dallas Stars were held off the scoreboard Saturday night, but Steve Ott recorded four penalty minutes in the 3-0 loss to the Phoenix Coyotes.
The tough guy also had three hits in the game, for those in leagues that reward such stats. Ott now has 10 points and 45 penalty minutes on the year. Even though the Stars only had 26 shots on net, Sheldon Souray had six, while Jamie Benn and Tom Wandell each had four.

Steve Ott is slated to return to Dallas' lineup on Friday night from a hip injury.
He has missed six consecutive games with the ailment, but skated in another full practice on Thursday and has been activated off the Stars' injured reserve list. Ott is expected to play alongside Jamie Benn and Michael Ryder, while Loui Eriksson will skate with Brenden Morrow and Mike Ribeiro.

Stars coach Glen Gulutzan has classified Steve Ott (hip) as a game-time decision for Tuesday's contest.
Gulutzan did caution that Ott will only be about 90-95% if he does play Tuesday. Ott took part in Monday's practice.

Steve Ott (hip) will remain behind when the Dallas Stars travel to Pittsburgh for Friday's game.
He is also expected to miss Sarturday's contest in Detroit with a hip pointer injury. "He's skated a couple of days there, and we just feel that he'll be best served by staying there and working out," coach Glen Gulutzan said. "I truly believe he'll be a player Tuesday (at home against Florida) and be at full strength."

Steve Ott (hip pointer) will not play Sunday against Carolina.
In fact, it is looking unlikely that he will be healthy enough to play Tuesday against the Capitals. The Stars are hoping that he will be good to go Friday in Pittsburgh but there are no guarantees. "These last two days have been real good. He's made some improvements and he is not in as much discomfort," Stars coach Glen Gulutzan said of Ott after Saturday's practice. "I think Tuesday is a stretch because we need him to practice a couple days. I think we are going to move that to Friday. He's going to stay back for the first bit of the trip so he can rehab and possibly get on the ice here by himself." Keep Ott on reserve for now.

Steve Ott has been ruled out of Friday's game against Colorado due to a hip pointer.
Coach Gulutzan said there is a chance that Ott might miss the team's next two games with the injury and return on Tuesday versus Washington. "It's bruising out now, and you can see that, so that's a good thing," Gulutzan said. "We're hoping for maybe the Washington game. We just want to make sure he's ready. He played with the injury once and he could play if it was the playoffs, but there's no point right now. If we can maximize these rest days and maybe only lose two man games, then we'll take it."

Steve Ott is considered questionable to play on Friday because of a hip injury.
"We're probably not going to have Otter here for Friday. He's not completely ruled out, but he's questionable," said coach Glen Gulutzan. "We just thought we would move Loui [Eriksson] to left so he could have a few practices at left wing, and we wanted to maybe look at that Burish, Morrow and Ribby line, so this gives us a free peek. It's kind of a free look at something that was in the back of our heads, so we'll see how it goes." Ott has eight points and 25 penalty minutes in 11 games this season.
