Steve Ott potted two goals, including the game winner in overtime, to propel Buffalo to a 3-2 win over Montreal on Tuesday night.
He recorded his fifth goal of the year on a Sabres power play in the extra session to give Buffalo the win. Ville Leino contributed two assists in the game. He has three helpers in three contests since returning to the lineup from a hip issue.

Steve Ott wasn't happy that Buffalo wasn't at least able to get a point Sunday night.
He had the goal that made Buffalo's lead 3-2, though they'd end up losing despite the comeback effort. "I like the determination of the guys to come back and battle and continue to push, push, push. But at the end of it all, we'd be a lot happier with the two points that we deserve to be walking out with," said Ott, who has seven points and 38 penalty minutes on the year.

Steve Ott has two points and 13 penalty minutes in seven games this season.
That's not exactly a start to get excited over, but the good news is that he has been getting plenty of playing time. Ott is logging 17:56 minutes per game, including a respectable 2:12 minutes with the man advantage. As long as he continues to get that kind of ice time, the points should start to come. Ott might reach the 25-point mark this season while averaging close to two PIM per contest.

Speaking at a charity event in Windsor, Ontario Saturday, Steve Ott expressed optimism about the possibility of returning to the ice in the near future.
?oI continue to hope that a season will start next week, or the week after. It?Ts disappointing and disheartening when the talks break off and supposedly, (NHL commissioner) Gary (Bettman) says they?Tve taken everything off the table. Hopefully, over the next while, they find some common ground and want to be back playing.'' Ott is looking forward to suiting with the Buffalo Sabres for the first time once play resumes.

Steve Ott is eager to get started with his new Buffalo teammates.
"I can't wait for the opportunity to throw my Buffalo Sabres jersey on," said Ott, who was dealt to the Sabres along with defenseman Adam Pardy in July for Derek Roy. "Hopefully it starts in October, and it's ready to go. I love this team. It's a young team, but it's molded right." Ott may get a chance to play center with Buffalo when he makes his debut. He will add energy and some scoring to the team this season.

Steve Ott is a capable faceoff man but he feels more comfortable playing on the wing.
"I've played 90 percent as a winger in the league, and since junior I've been a left winger," he said. "Taking faceoffs is obviously adjusting and learning more of the game and finding ways to be on the ice more. If it's taking faceoffs in the last minute or important draws on penalty kills or power plays, those things add up to being a more versatile player, and that's something that I've always envisioned myself as being." The Sabres desperately want to add a center for next season and they presently have a plethora of potential left wingers in Ott, Thomas Vanek, Marcus Foligno, Ville Leino, Nathan Gerbe and John Scott.

The Buffalo Sabres have acquired Steve Ott and Adam Pardy from the Dallas Stars in exchange for Derek Roy.
Ott is more of a physical bottom-six forward, but he does chip in offensively. He can play on one of the Sabres' top two lines if they need him to. He had 39 points and 156 penalty minutes in 74 games in 2011-12.

Steve Ott (undisclosed) will be scratched for Dallas' season finale.
If the Stars still had a shot of making the playoffs, Ott might have played. As it is, Dallas will focus on giving youngsters playing time in their final contest and will rest several veterans as a result. It looks like Ott will finish the season with 39 points and 156 penalty minutes in 74 games.
