Stephen Weiss (groin) skated again on Monday.
He got through most of the session and he's eyeing a return by the end of the week. Weiss has already missed four games with a groin injury and he's expected to sit out Tuesday's tilt with Nashville.

Stephen Weiss (groin) was back skating on Friday.
He skated with his teammates Friday for the first time since he injured his groin muscle on November 7th. Weiss hopes to return to action next week after he gets a few more practices in. "I'll just try to continue to do more every day,'" Weiss said. "Once that's not a problem, get some practices in and hopefully play. It feels real good today, felt good yesterday and I know it's just a matter of ramping it up and making sure (the issue) is all gone and go forward.'' Weiss was off to a terrible start with only three points in 17 games. With any luck, the time off could serve as a reboot to his season.

The Red Wings are expecting Stephen Weiss to be out of action for 7-10 days due to a groin injury.
Not the news Weiss owners, who were hoping the talented center would start to turn around his season, were hoping for. If you have not done so, reserve Weiss immediately.

Stephen Weiss has been dropped to the third line.
Weiss has two goals and no assists in 13 games this season. Maybe the demotion will spark him, but either way he probably won't have to wait too long before he gets another shot on one of Detroit's top two lines.

Stephen Weiss has two points in 12 games with Detroit this season.
He has not recorded a point in his last six contests and his two goals have come on just 14 shots. Weiss could be trying to get accustomed to his new team still and he was limited to just 17 games last year due to injury. Once he starts feeling comfortable the points should follow.

Stephen Weiss had a rough game Thursday in a 4-2 loss versus Phoenix.
He finished the contest with a minus-4 rating and no points. His linemates, Daniel Alfredsson and Johan Franzen, each received minus-3 ratings and they were held off the scoresheet as well. The three of them have combined to generate just four points in four games this season. Detroit will need much more from their second line if they want to keep playing Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg together.

Stephen Weiss made his first goal with the Detroit Red Wings a big one, as he scored the 3-2 OT winner against the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday.
It was only Weiss' third shot in two games, but he's doing the "little things" well. He also logged 19:03 of ice time Friday. Henrik Zetterberg collected a goal, assist and whopping 10 SOG while Justin Abdelkader was Detroit's other goalscorer, also firing four SOG and delivering seven hits.

Stephen Weiss (groin) didn't participate in Saturday's morning skate, but thinks he'll be available for a practice on Monday.
Weiss is aiming to play in the Red Wings' season opener after pulling himself out of Friday's preseason contest. "There was something going on (in the groin area) and I figured just be smart for once and let it settle down a bit, so be ready for Wednesday," Weiss explained. He's projected to open the season as Detroit's second line center.
