Shea Weber continued his point streak with a two-assist night in the Nashville Predators' 4-3 overtime loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday night. Weber now has points in four straight games, and 14 overall. He also was a plus-one Saturday night - and is now a plus-19 on the year - and has not been a minus player since Oct. 25. Fellow blueliner Ryan Suter also had his second straight two-assist night, with four penalty minutes, and logged a game-high 19:32. Colin Wilson sniped his fifth of the season, Mike Fisher his third and Nick Spaling his second in the losing effort.

Shea Weber and Ryan Suter are a combined plus-33 thus far and haven't been on the ice together for an even strength goal since October 27. The duo make up the Predators top defensive pairing and their offense isn't so shabby either as they are the Rock of Gibraltar on the Nashville blueline, always playing against the opponents top line. "It's maturity," coach Barry Trotz said. "Their game is evolving, they're becoming more mature and confident players. They've played together for a few years. If they're not the most dominant (defense) pair (in the NHL), they're pretty close." Both are fantasy studs as well.

Shea Weber scored an empty-net goal and added a helper to generate a two-point night against the Washington Capitals. Martin Erat (one goal, one assists) and Mike Fisher (two helpers) also produced two points in the Nashville Predators' 3-1 win. Weber now has 11 points in 2011-12, with a healthy 52 shots on goal to boot.

Shea Weber scored the loan goal in Montreal's 2-1 win over the Nashville Predators Saturday night. Weber scored shorthanded off an offensive zone face off. It is safe to say that the Predators can not rely on this form of offence. They are going to need there forwards to step up and produce offensively. Without consistent production from the Predator's top six forwards they are in danger of missing the playoffs.

Shea Weber received a $2,500 fine, but he won't be suspended for boarding Vancouver's Jannik Hansen during Thursday's game. Weber also received four minutes for boarding and unsportsmanlike conduct as a result of the play. "On all plays we deem to be illegal there are varying degrees that escalate from one level to the next," NHL disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan said. "I didn't like this hit, and I expressed that to Shea Weber. I feel it was an illegal hit. I would like to see less force in that situation and that is why he's being fined. He didn't use all of his force, and did get Hansen sort of on the right side of Hansen's body -- I think a lot of Weber's impact and the sound was him hitting the glass. It wasn't square in the numbers, but it was illegal." Given that Weber will make $7.5 million this season, we are confident in his ability to pay the fine.

Shea Weber might be suspended or fined for boarding Vancouver's Jannik Hansen during Thursday's game. Weber spent four minutes in the sin bin for boarding and unsportsmanlike conduct as a result of the play. He also served time for a cross checking penalty earlier in the contest. Weber had 56 penalty minutes last season, but he already has 12 in six games in 2011-12. The NHL has scheduled a disciplinary hearing regarding his latest transgression and we'll let you know if anything comes of that. Stay tuned.

Shea Weber had two assists as Nashville beat Winnipeg 4-3 on Saturday. Weber led the charge for the Predators as they spread out their scoring in this preseason tilt. Jordin Tootoo, Sergei Kostitsyn, Martin Erat, and Patric Hornqvist all scored in the win. Derek Meech, Paul Postma, and Spencer Machacek all scored in defeat.

The Nashville Predators have replaced their arena's glass and boards. Although the team had retrofitted the glass three times since their inaugural 1998-99 season, this is the first time it's been completely extracted and replaced. Unlike the Predators old boards, which used seamless glass, these will sway backwards when a player is smashed into them. These boards will absorb more of the impact of a hit, which will make playing in Nashville's Bridgestone Arena safer. In addition, there will no longer be condensation, which will lead to the Predators enjoying harder and cleaner ice.

Shea Weber has a higher cap hit than any other NHL defenseman. An arbitrator awarded Weber a one-year/$7.5 million contract, which is also the highest single season salary an arbitrator has ever given to an NHL player. It's worth pointing out that although Weber has the highest cap hit among defenseman, he's not actually the highest paid blueliner. For example Christian Ehrhoff will get paid $10 million in 2011-12, but because his contract is heavily frontloaded, his cap hit is only $4 million.

Shea Weber has been awarded a one-year/$7.5 million contract by an arbitrator. That's only marginally less than the $8 million he requested. The Predators were unable to sign him prior to arbitration, which is particularly puzzling because they were well below the cap floor before the Weber signing. We're sure he's happy with his new contract but we just hope that the Predators didn't do any damage to their relationship with Weber by putting him through arbitration.
