Shea Weber has been fined $2,500 for hitting Detroit forward Henrik Zetterberg's head into the glass during Wednesday's playoff opener. "We felt this was a reckless and reactionary play on which Weber threw a glancing punch and then shoved Zetterberg's head into the glass," said NHL disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan. "We reached out to Detroit following the game and were informed that Zetterberg did not suffer an apparent injury and should be in the lineup for Game 2." Shanahan also commented through a statement that this incident will place whatever Weber does under the microscope for the remainder of the playoffs. The Nashville defender will be in the lineup for Game 2 on Friday night though.

Shea Weber might be suspended after he appeared to smash Henrik Zetterberg's head into the glass. Weber wasn't sure if he'd get punished. "I don't know," he said. "He hit me from behind. So we'll see." Losing Weber for any amount of time would be a big blow to Nashville and would threaten to rob them of the momentum they claimed in their 3-2 victory in Game 1.

Shea Weber set a personal best with a 106 mph slapshot in the hardest shot category at the NHL All-Star skills competition. The Preds' defenseman came in second to defending champ Zdeno Chara who had shots were clocked at 107 and 108 mph. Weber is always near the top of the leader board in this competition and goalies continue to be fearful when he winds up from the point during games.
