Shea Weber has a higher cap hit than any other NHL defenseman. An arbitrator awarded Weber a one-year/$7.5 million contract, which is also the highest single season salary an arbitrator has ever given to an NHL player. It's worth pointing out that although Weber has the highest cap hit among defenseman, he's not actually the highest paid blueliner. For example Christian Ehrhoff will get paid $10 million in 2011-12, but because his contract is heavily frontloaded, his cap hit is only $4 million.
