Coach Barry Trotz said that there's a possibility that Shea Weber, who was recently diagnosed with a concussion, may be available to play on Friday in St. Louis. "He won't play [Wednesday], but there's a chance for Friday," Trotz said. "He is recovering pretty well I would say, but nothing is for sure all the time." Although nothing is certain when it comes to head injuries, this is good news for Weber, the Predators and his fantasy owners.

Shea Weber has become the latest star player to go down with a concussion. The Nashville Predators made the unfortunate announcement on Tuesday after he was injured near the end of Friday's game at Dallas on a high hit from the Stars' Mark Fistric. Weber appeared to be alright following the contest, but he was scratched from Monday's match with Detroit after leaving the morning skate presumably due to a flare up in symptoms. There is no timeline for his return to the lineup, but he won't be available for Wednesday's game versus Minnesota. Weber was second among NHL defensemen with eight goals and 29 points in 35 games this season.

Shea Weber left Nashville's morning skate before it's conclusion, which is extremely rare. Predators coach Barry Trotz couldn't shed any light on the situation immediately following the practice, but Weber was hit pretty hard on Friday. At this point, we'd consider Weber questionable for Monday's game.

Shea Weber carried on his torrid play recently with three helpers, as Nashville downed Columbus 6-5 on Thursday night. He is second among NHL defensemen with 28 points in 34 games this campaign and he stretched his point streak to four contests. Ryan Suter and Colin Wilson had two assists each in the win, while Martin Erat and David Legwand produced a goal and a helper apiece. Erat scored the game-winning goal with about nine seconds left in regulation to give the Predators a dramatic come-from-behind victory.

Shea Weber has been red hot for the Predators with 17 points in his past 18 games. He has eight goals, 17 assists and a plus-15 rating in 33 games this campaign to put him among the league's elite defensemen. Weber is also averaging over 26 minutes of playing time per game, which included a 29:34 contest against Washington on Tuesday. Play him with confidence in all formats.

The Nashville Predators have developed a new power-play strategy that has resulted in extra-man goals in nine of their past 11 games. "We needed to support each other out there, support the puck a lot more," said captain Shea Weber, Nashville's power-play quarterback. "We're trying to move it faster to prevent them from getting into position to be able to stop it." The new system has more players in closer proximity to the goal and is designed to place more consistent pressure on the defense. Three or four of the five players ideally are in position to take a shot at most any time during the power play. "I don't know what you call it; a spread or a 2-3, I guess," Weber said. "It's a different look. We've been the same for so long here, it just gives teams a different look and they're maybe a little bit surprised." The Preds have had more scoring chances with the new system, defenseman Ryan Suter said. "Whenever you're on the power play you want to get shots at the net, but you can't do it unless you have people there or the opportunity is right," Suter said.

Shea Weber scored his sixth goal of the season in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Coyotes. Weber's power play marker midway through the third period tied the contest at 2-2, but the Coyotes won the game with a late tally. Jack Hillen also added his second goal of the season in the Predators' loss.

The Nashville Predators failed to score a single goal against Miikka Kiprusoff tonight. Shea Weber ranks among the most frustrated Predators. He fired five shots on goal, but all he had to show for his 26 minutes of effort was a -1 rating. Weber's 2011-12 season numbers are solid, though, as he has 16 points and a +13 rating overall.

Shea Weber scored a goal in Nashville's 2-1 victory over the Edmonton Oilers Monday night. The goal was Shea's fourth of the season. The former Norris runner up has been a reliable fantasy performer thus far. The Predators skate with an emphasis on defensive hockey. Weber won't mind if his goal totals are low, so long as the Predators win.

Shea Weber leads the league with a plus-19 rating. Weber lost the 2010-11 Norris Trophy to Nicklas Lidstrom, but so far, Weber is in the running again this season. He's not expected to lead all blueliners in points, but 14 in 19 games is still nothing to sneeze at. In addition to his offensive production and impressive plus/minus rating, Weber has also chipped in with 33 hits and 26 blocked shots. As far as top-tier defenseman go, Weber is one of the most well-rounded.
