The Nashville Predators have reportedly offered Shea Weber a salary of $4.75 million in arbitration, while Weber has requested $8 million. It's worth noting that the arbitrator is not required to pick between the two offers. He can - and likely will - give Weber an annual salary in between those two figures. That being said, it's still surprising that it's even gotten this far. The Nashville Predators are well below the current salary cap floor. It would have made more sense to us if they had offered Weber a lucrative one-year deal at the 11th hour to avoid putting their star blueliner through the unpleasant process of arbitration.

Shea Weber and the Nashville Predators were unable to come to terms before Weber's Tuesday morning arbitration date. Weber will be given the option of getting a one or two year deal from the arbitrator. A one year contract might be more beneficial for him financially in the long run, but Weber isn't scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent until the summer of 2013. We'll keep you posted.

The Nashville Predators would like to sign Shea Weber to a long-term contract, but they might end up needing to go to arbitration. The two sides have an arbitration hearing scheduled for August 2nd. So far this season, no player has made it to arbitration, with the exception of Chris Campoli, who had the arbitration process accelerated after both sides agreed that a deal would not get done. Several players have made it to the day of their arbitration hearing before they finally inked a contract with their team and the same thing might end up happening in this case. We'll keep you posted.

Shea Weber probably won't re-sign with the Predators this week, but talks are still ongoing. "We've had long talks; we seem to be coming to a bit of a stalemate. We still have time to work before the system kicks in," Jarrett Bousquet, Weber's agent said. "Shea would like to be a Predator. He enjoys playing there with a team that's on the cusp of doing something great." Weber's scheduled to have an arbitration hearing on August 2nd. We'll keep you posted.

The Nashville Predators have unveiled a change to their jerseys for the 2011-12 season. The team's primary color will now be gold, which is a change from the white and navy jerseys the team had worn primarily in the past. Unfortunately, this isn't expected to provide a boost to the fantasy stock of the team's top players.

Shea Weber's arbitration hearing date is set for August 2nd. That gives Nashville nearly a month to negotiate a long-term contract with Weber and avoid arbitration. Weber is one of the top players in this year's restricted free agent class. He had 16 goals, 48 points, a plus-seven rating, 211 hits, and 113 blocked shots.

The Nashville Predators are talking to RFA Shea Weber about a contract extension. The Predators continue their talks however they filed for salary arbitration. This move is usually done by teams to protect themnselves from other NHL clubs making offers. At this point Weber has to decide if he wants to take one-year of two-years for arbitration. It seems as though both sides would like to make a deal before the actual arbitration date.

The Nashville Predators have promoted Peter Horachek from an assistant coach to an associate coach. He had been interviewed for head coaching positions with the Dallas Stars and Florida Panthers. Horachek will take over for Brent Peterson, who will take on an undefined coaching position next year because of his Parkinson's disease.
