Sean Couturier has found the back of the net in five consecutive games for the Philadelphia Flyers.
His second short-handed tally of the season on Tuesday turned out to be the game winner in a 5-1 triumph against Minnesota. He has three game deciding markers during his current spree, which has helped him reach a total of 10 goals and 17 points in 40 games.

Sean Couturier scored for the fourth game in a row, but the Philadelphia Flyers fell 4-2 to the Nashville Predators on Saturday night.
In addition to his ninth goal of the year, the rookie also had an assist and a plus-two rating. There's certainly upside here, but his 16 overall points and up-and-down ice time reveal he's still not much of an option in yearly leagues right now. Wayne Simmonds also had a goal and an assist, and the feisty winger now has 12 goals and 23 points on the year, with six of those points coming in seven January games. Simmonds may not have the scoring prowess to be keyed on in fantasy leagues, but his penalty minutes (53) make him a viable depth option. Andrej Meszaros and Matt Read had the other helpers.

Sean Couturier is on a three-game goal scoring streak.
Couturier has eight goals and 14 points in 38 games while averaging just 12:26 minutes per contest. He's got plenty of offensive upside, but the Flyers are full of promising young players, so he'll have a tough time fighting his way up the depth charts. With that in mind, if could be a couple of years before he has any fantasy value in standard leagues.

Sean Couturier registered two assists in his return to the lineup from a head injury.
Couturier missed four games after being hit near his left ear on a shot from teammate Kimmo Timonen. It's worth noting that he was never diagnosed with a concussion. "I haven't had any headaches or any big symptoms," said Couturier. "It was more like a bruise on the head, and obviously it's the head, so you have to be careful with that. I feel great. I feel back to normal." His hearing in his left ear hasn't completely returned, but it's "much better."

Sean Couturier (head) skated without contact again on Monday.
He returned to the ice Friday after sustaining a head injury on Dec. 17 following a shot to the head from teammate Kimmo Timmonen. "We're going day-by-day," said Couturier, who hasn't been diagnosed with a concussion. "Last Friday was just the first time in a week, and I felt off-balance a little bit. I feel better now. It depends on how my head reacts." He isn't expected to play on Tuesday night though.

Sean Couturier was examined at the hospital for a possible skull fracture and internal bleeding, but neither issue was discovered.
He was released on Sunday morning and passed his baseline concussion ImPACT test, but that doesn't mean he is in the clear. Several players, including Philadelphia teammates Brayden Schenn and Chris Pronger, passed their initial tests as well only to be diagnosed with concussions afterward. Couturier was hit in the back of the helmet by a shot in Saturday's loss to Boston and is currently listed as day-to-day. He did not travel with the team in Denver for Monday's match-up against the Avalanche.

The Philadelphia Flyers announced that Sean Couturier was released from the hospital and will be re-evaluated tomorrow.
Couturier is listed at day-to-day, but that could be a very optimistic outlook. The rookie was gaining a great opportunity between Scott Hartnell and Jaromir Jagr, but his big-picture health is more important at this point. On the odd chance that you have him on your team, it's wise to part ways unless it's a keeper situation.
