Sean Couturier scored and assisted in Adirondack's 5-1 triumph over Bridgeport Sound on Wednesday night. Couturier is another young Flyers forward biding his time in the AHL. He has 13 points in 13 games. Harry Zolnierczyk also had a goal, his fourth of the season.

Sean Couturier had a goal but Adirondack fell to Binghamton on Friday night 4-2. The young Flyers winger is due for a bigger roleif and when the NHL season gets underway and he's doing everything in his power to ensure that happens. He may have had just 31 points (including the playoffs) last year, but he's got 11 in 11 games this year, more reminiscent of what can be expected when he gets more comfortable in the NHL.

Sean Couturier scored a goal and registered two assists in the Adirondack Phantoms' 4-0 victory over the Albany Devils. Couturier has two goals and 10 points in nine AHL games. He had 13 goals and 14 assists in 77 contests with the Philadelphia Flyers in 2011-12.

Sean Couturier filled up the stat sheet for Adirondack on Saturday. The young Flyers forward had a goal, assist and a penalty in the 6-3 win. Couturier was tasked with more of a defensive role in his first NHL season, but will get an elevated role in the AHL in hopes of getting the same responsibility once the big league starts up again. Couturier is blessed with great hands -- before his rookie year, he had back-to-back years with 96 points in the QMJHL. He will thrive in the AHL.

Sean Couturier is excited to have a different role with AHL Adirondack than he had with the Philadelphia Flyers in his rookie year. During the 2011-12 campaign, he averaged a mere 26 seconds of power-play time per game which was less than any regularly playing forward other than Max Talbot and Zac Rinaldo. In Tuesday's AHL exhibition match versus Albany, he set up two power-play goals in a 5-3 loss and helped quarterback the unit. "This year, I'll have the chance to prove myself," Couturier said. "I'm going to be in a different role. I know I can produce offensively. I had great offensive numbers at junior. I just need to be patient and wait for my chance [in the NHL]. At the same time, I've got to stay the same player that I am - a solid, two-way player." He mostly had a defensive, shutdown role with the Flyers, but a playoff hat trick displayed glimpses of his offensive talent. His time in the minors should help develop that side of his game.

The Flyers' Sean Couturier believes he can benefit from his time in the AHL. Couturier, like many young NHLers, was assigned to the minors and started working out with the Phantoms, the Flyers' AHL affiliate Friday. "Its different level, (but) I still have to adapt myself," Couturier said. "I'm looking forward to it. It's my second year of pro hockey so I want to bring more offense to my game. I know I have the offensive tools to do it and hopefully, I can show it." Glad to see Couturier has a positive attitude about his AHL stint. He could make a huge fantasy leap this season if and when the NHL resumes.

Sean Couturier will head to the minors during the lockout. The Flyers sent down the 19-year-old on Saturday. In his rookie season, Couturier had 27 points in 77 games. He's got loads of potential and some time in the AHL certainly won't be a bad thing.

The Flyers, having missed out on many free agents and having lost Jaromir Jagr to Dallas, are going to have to rely on Sean Couturier and some of their other young players to provide more offence next season. It is unrealistic to expect Scott Hartnell to score 37 goals again and with the loss of Jagr, the Flyers are going to have to make up approximately 40 goals. That must come from players like Couturier, Brayden Schenn, Matt Read, Jakub Voracek and Eric Wellwood. It will be interesting to see how some of these younger players will respond to the challenge.

Sean Couturier (leg) suited up in Game 4 on Sunday night, but he was limited to just 7:08 of ice time. He left Game 3 on Thursday with a leg injury and his lack of playing time suggests that he talented rookie wasn't feeling 100 percent healthy in his return. If Couturier cannot answer the bell for Tuesday's contest then Zac Rinaldo may dress in his place.

Sean Couturier (leg) thinks he's ready to return to the lineup. Couturier skated with his teammates Sunday morning. However, he is still a game-time decision for Sunday's contest. "We'll see tonight," Couturier said. "But I'm ready to go."
