Postma agreed to terms with Ak Bars (KHL) on a one-year deal Wednesday, Igor Eronko of Sport-Express reports.

Postma saw action in just 14 games last season for the Bruins, spending the bulk of the campaign watching from the press box. Selected by the Thrashers (Jets) in the seventh round of the 2007 NHL Draft, the defenseman has logged 205 games in which he tallied 10 goals and 25 helpers. At 29 years of age, it seems unlikely the Alberta native will find his way back to North America before his career comes to a close.

Postma will not have a chance to re-sign with the Bruins, Kevin Paul Dupont of The Boston Globe reports.

Postma only appeared in 14 games for the Bruins this season, and a single assist represented his point total over that span. The right defenseman was due to become an unrestricted free agent come July 1 which renders the decision to let him loose not at all surprising.

The Bruins have assigned Postma to AHL Providence.

The 29-year-old hasn't played in a game since Dec. 14, but has spent the majority of his time in the NHL since 2014-15, and could draw interest from teams lacking defensive depth.

Postma has recorded one assist and two PIM in 12 games this season.

Postma, who last suited up on Dec. 13, currently slots in as the Bruins' eighth defenseman and as a result he's off the fantasy radar, with the team's back line corps currently in good health. Down the road when injuries hit, however, he's an experienced option for the team to turn to. The 28-year-old has 203 career regular-season NHL games under his belt to date.

Postma was a healthy scratch for Saturday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Rangers.

EDGE Analysis

Postma has been struggling to find time on the ice lately as he's only suited up for six of Boston's last 18 games, averaging a mere 8:50 of ice time in those contests. The 28-year-old did consistently contribute for Winnipeg in 2016-17 notching 14 points (one goal, 13 assists) in 65 games, but unless injuries arise, it doesn't appear Postma is a large part of Boston's blueline plans this season.

Postma will be a healthy scratch for Monday's tilt with Minnesota.

EDGE Analysis

The former Jet's run of six-straight games will come to an end Monday, as the recently recalled Rob O'Gara is set to replace Postma in the lineup. Postma was brought in by GM Don Sweeney in the offseason to provide the B's a seventh defenseman with some experience and power-play acumen, but is unlikely to be a reliable fantasy play this campaign.
