Veteran Patrick Sharp will meet with doctors this weekend to check the progress of his injured left shoulder. The high-scoring left winger has been rehabbing the shoulder that limited him to 28 regular-season games. "No surgery," Sharp said. "Just some rehab to strengthen it and fix it up. Everything is on schedule." Sharp played with the injury during the playoffs but said it "wasn't too bad" when on the ice. "The first series against Minnesota it was a little sore," Sharp said. "Detroit and L.A. it was fine (but) in the Boston series it got hit a few times. We ended the playoff run just at the right time because it was getting pretty sore."

Patrick Sharp said his left shoulder won't require surgery. Sharp missed 19 games during the regular season due to a shoulder injury, but he played in all 23 of Chicago's playoff run to the Stanley Cup.

Patrick Sharp received grief from some Chicago teammates for his celebration after a goal in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final as the winger fell down in the midst of it. "I'm still proud of it," Sharp said. "I was excited and was screaming and yelling and throwing my arms around and next thing you know I was on my knees. You dream about playing in the finals, winning that Stanley Cup. You score a goal, you feel good about it." Said teammate Patrick Kane: "'Sharpie' doesn't really get too much embarrassment so it's good for him to get his fill."

Corey Crawford's teammates tested him out Friday during practice by firing shots to his glove side, forward Patrick Sharp said. "I tried (Friday) and he stopped me glove side, so hopefully he's got it all figured out," Sharp said. "I don't know if that was the game plan or if that's something they (the Boston Bruins) did on purpose(in Game 4) and they were successful at it, but I like Corey in there." So does Chicago coach Joel Quenneville, who insisted he os not considering replacing Crawford with backup Ray Emery, who hasn't played in almost two months. As much as the Bruins had success beating Crawford in Game 4, one knows yet whether that will have a carry-over effect. "That's the thing: Everyone thinks (they're) going to shoot to the glove," Sharp said. "It's not like Corey can start cheating glove side, because those guys are such good shooters they can pick him apart. Who knows if that's a once-in-a-lifetime type of game of if they've figured something out."

Patrick Sharp potted the lone goal for Chicago in its 2-1 overtime loss to Boston on Saturday night in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final. Sharp scored at 11:22 of the first period on assists from Patrick Kane and Michal Handzus. That they couldn't get anymore goals in a 19-shot period proved to be a pivotal time in this game. While the Bruins' game grew after the first period, Chicago seemed to collectively lose some energy. Sharp and Marian Hossa each finished with a game-high seven shots on goal, while Andrew Shaw and Brent Seabrook had a team-high six hits. Dave Bolland and Johnny Oduya had penalties, but the Hawks killed those off.

The Blackhawks will aim to take down another goaltender playing at a high level. After cooling off the Wings' Jimmy Howard and Kings' Jonathan Quick, the Blackhawks will now face the Bruins' Tuukka Rask, who has a 1.75 goals-against average and .943 save percentage in the playoffs. "It seems like every round we're talking about how the other guy's playing, and we can say the same thing for Rask," Patrick Sharp said. "Whether it's him making big saves or how well his team's playing in front of him, it's going to be tough to get quality scoring chances. When we do, we have to make sure we bury them. It's the same game plan as every other goalie, whether it's Howard or Quick: get to the net as best you can and try to beat them."

Patrick Sharp is willing to drop the gloves in this series. Sharp was challenged by the Kings' Justin Williams, although both players only got roughing minors for their actions. Beyond that, Sharp didn't feel they responded well to the Kings in Game 3, despite the fact that they anticipated Los Angeles stepping up after consecutive defeats. "We have to find a better flow; we took some bad penalties," Sharp said. "They played harder, they were skating better. We knew they would play well and they did."

Patrick Sharp is easily an elite goal-scorer, especially in the playoffs. The Chicago Blackhawks pass along an impressive stat: only Sidney Crosby has more postseason goals since 2009 than Sharp's 30. (Crosby has 31.)

Patrick Sharp was impressed with the play of Jonathan Quick on Saturday. Sharp scored the Blackhawks opening goal which tied the game in the second period but was denied earlier in the period when Quick stopped him on a point blank shot. "He's a good goalie, we all know that. He makes saves when he sees the puck and he makes saves when he doesn't see them," Sharp said. "Any time you can get those second and third chances, drive the net, get to the inside, that's the idea. We were fortunate with a couple in the second period and it was enough to hang on." Game 2 of the Western Conference Final is tonight in Chicago.
