The United States will likely lean heavily on Patrick Kane in the 2014 Winter Olympics.
Kane has been stunning this season with 23 goals and 53 points in 42 games. More than that though, he's proven that he can be a clutch player on a big stage. He's played a key role in the Chicago Blackhawks winning the Stanley Cup twice in their last four seasons. Phil Kessel, T.J. Oshie, Joe Pavelski, and David Backes are also likely to play big roles among Team USA's core of forwards.

This is shaping up to be the best season of Patrick Kane's career.
Kane has 21 goals and 48 points in 38 games this season. That puts him on course to shatter his previous career-high of 30 markers in a single campaign. "I always feel like I've been a goal-scorer my whole hockey career," Kane said. "For whatever reason, when I came into the league as a rookie and maybe a few years after that, I was more of a playmaker. . . . But as time goes on, you learn to try to find new ways to score goals." It's worth adding that his 48 points is second to just Sidney Crosby so far this season.
