Patrick Kane scored a goal in Chicago's 3-2 loss to Colorado Wednesday evening. Kane extended his point streak to three games and he now has 29 goals with 38 assists in 65 games this season. Brandon Saad scored the other goal for the Blackhawks.

Patrick Kane made his first appearance in his hometown of Buffalo since October of 2010. He scored his 28th goal of the season, to end a five-game goalless skid, in the Blackhawks' 2-1 victory over the Sabres. Kane has amassed 66 points in 64 games this season.

After a disappointing showing in the 2014 Winter Games, Patrick Kane is shifting his focus back to the Chicago Blackhawks. The United States ended up finishing fourth in the tournament and Kane didn't score a goal despite having two penalty shot opportunities in the bronze medal contest. "I feel fine," Kane said. "Physically fine, mentally fine. Yeah, it's been a tough couple of weeks, but . . . no excuses. I was here to play hockey and try to produce. Didn't do that. That's what I'm expected to do in Chicago, too, so I'll go back and try to do it there." Between the timezone adjustment and the rough way his Olympic campaign ended, we wouldn't be surprised if Kane got off to a sluggish start when the NHL schedule resumes. That being said, it shouldn't take him too long to bounce back.

Patrick Kane was clearly dejected after Saturday's bronze-medal loss to Finland, but he feels the experience will make him a better player in the long run. "It would have been nice to bring something home," he said. "But the experience in general will make me a better player, and hopefully stronger as my career goes on. As far as the tournament for me, just disappointing, I guess." He didn't score a goal in six games during the 2014 Sochi Olympics, but he appeared to be one of only a few American players who were interested in competing for bronze. "No excuses," said Kane. "I wasn't good enough. I wasn't good enough to help the team win a medal. Obviously, I was expected to do a lot more. When you come over here and put zero goals and four assists in six games, that's not the numbers you want to see. Definitely disappointing." Kane couldn't convert on two penalty shots in bronze-medal match, as the United States got whitewashed for a second straight game to close out the tournament.

Patrick Kane failed to convert on two penalty shots in Team USA's 5-0 loss to Finland in Saturday's bronze-medal contest. He had five shots on goal in the contest. Kane couldn't buy a goal in Winter Games, as the Blackhawks' leader scorer couldn't find the back of the net in six games for the United States. Kane was able to generate four assists.

Patrick Kane failed to score on two penalty shots in the U.S.'s surprising 5-0 loss to Finland in the Bronze Medal game in Sochi Saturday. The Americans played Finland to a 0-0 draw after the first but fell behind as the ageless Teemu Selanne scored the game's first goal 1:27 into the second period. The game might have been lost 11 seconds later as Jussi Jokinen scored to put the Finns up 2-0. For the balance of the second Tuukka Rask took over and stymied the Americans until Selanne, Juuso Hietnanen and Olli Maatta scored in the third putting the game out of reach. Kane, who had five shots on goal in the contest, was visibly distraught on the U.S. bench as the game wound down but he was not the only player to blame for this loss. The U.S. just didn't look interested in playing for a bronze medal.

Team USA still has a chance to win their third Olympic hockey medal in the past four tournaments in Saturday's bronze medal game vs. Finland (10am Eastern time). Patrick Kane and the Americans were shut out in Friday's semifinal against Canada. In the first year NHLers were allowed to participate in the Olympics, Mike Modano, Brett Hull and the squad finished sixth in Nagano during the 2006 games. USA won silver in the 2002 Salt Lake and 2010 Vancouver games, with an eighth place finish during the 2006 Turin games.

Patrick Kane wasn't happy with how he played on Sunday during the United States' 5-1 win over Slovenia. "I didn't like my game (Sunday)," Kane said. "(I'm) not really making the right plays, wasn't as smart as I thought I could be. As time goes on, I guess you try to develop chemistry with your linemates (and) try to get a little bit more opportunities. Hopefully, it just keeps picking up." He picked up three assists in three preliminary round games for Team USA.

Patrick Kane is hoping to have a strong Olympic Games and he got off to a good start with two assists in the United States' 7-1 thrashing of Slovakia. "You always want to prove yourself as a big-time player in big games," Kane said. "Another thing is just try to prove yourself at these highest levels of hockey. They're great opportunities and opportunities that don't come along often - if at all. If you're really focused on hockey and focused on trying to do the right things, then you are going to be successful, especially with the people and players you're surrounded by." Kane opened the tournament on a line with Ryan Kesler and Dustin Brown.

Patrick Kane isn't expected to play Friday against Phoenix because of his grandfather's funeral. He left the team Wednesday night after Chicago's win over Anaheim for his hometown of Buffalo. Kane lost his grandfather on Monday. His next time on the ice will be with Team USA in Sochi, Russia for the Winter Olympics.
