Kane picked up an assist and scored the game-winning goal in the third period of Thursday's 4-3 triumph in Calgary. Kane's now found twine for three straight games, with three assists to go with his three goals in that span. At this rate, he'll get his season stats up to their normal levels in no time.

Kane scored his sixth goal of the season and added two assists in Sunday's blowout victory over the Stars. Kane has now scored in two straight games and is up to 14 points (six goals) in 18 games on the season. Although Kane hasn't been spectacular, he has been consistent, making him a must-start every night. Kane has four points in his last two games, so he could be on the verge of a hot-streak. It's showtime in Chicago, folks.

Kane scored a goal on three shots in Tuesday's 5-0 win over the Canadiens. After seven straight games without a goal, Kane was able to find the back of the net on Tuesday for the fourth time this season. With nine points in 13 games, there's still room for Kane to improve to the level he's capable of, but he's definitely still a top option on the wing.

Kane scored a pair of power-play goals in Tuesday's 4-0 win over the Flyers. After a couple quiet games, Kane bounced right back, as he normally does. It's quite likely that when all's said and done, he'll have another point-per-game campaign under his belt.

Kane got the lone score in Thursday's 3-2 shootout win at Dallas in the season opener, CSN Chicago reports. Despite not scoring a goal in the opener, he had several chances against Dallas. He did assist on Patrick Sharp's goal in the third period that tied the game at two. Chicago hosts Buffalo on Saturday and Kane has four goals and three assists in eight games in his career against his hometown Sabres.

Kane showed that there is no rust in his legs when he scored in the Blackhawks' first exhibition game of the season in the 2-1 overtime victory on Tuesday over the Red Wings. Kane scored on a breakaway with the help of a pass from newly acquired Brad Richards. Kane will be looking to show this season that he is worth the recently signed eight-year extension of his contract with an average annual value of $10.5 million. Kane had 29 goals and 40 assists last season in 69 games. He'll be looking to top his 09-10 season where he registered his best numbers, 30 goals and 58 assists in 82 games.

Arguing that Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews' matching eight-year, $84 million extensions aren't excessive, agent Pat Brisson claimed that they could have gotten $13.8 million annually if they so desired. That's probably true, because the Chicago Blackhawks were negotiating from a weak position. Kane and Toews have restored credibility to the Blackhawks and the team was in a position where they were basically going to cave into whatever demands the duo made. However, Brisson used that as an argument to suggest that Kane and Toews gave Chicago a hometown discount in an effort to keep their team together, which is pushing it. Kane and Toews chose to make themselves the two highest paid players in terms of cap hit by a significant margin so while they probably could have gotten even more, their demands were still high enough to hurt Chicago's competitive edge. That said, they were under no obligation to make life easy on the Blackhawks in the first place. After all, they've been successful and it's their right to cash in.

The Chicago Blackhawks have signed Patrick Kane to an eight-year, $84 million contract extension. Jonathan Toews signed an identical contract. Kane and Toews new cap hits of $10.5 million annually don't take effect until the 2015-16 campaign, but currently they're projected to be the two highest in the league. Kane has emerged as a point-per-game player and a clutch performer in the playoffs, although his recent injury history makes him a bit of a risk going forward.

Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews aren't expected to re-sign with the Chicago Blackhawks until after the July 4 holiday weekend. They were initially expected to sign on July 1, but it's way too early to be concerned. The only question is how high their combined cap hits will be. They have a lot of bargaining power in their negotiations, but the more they demand, the harder it will be for the Blackhawks to continue to compete for the Stanley Cup.

The negotiations between the Chicago Blackhawks and stars Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews are ongoing. July 1 was the first day Chicago was eligible to sign Toews and Kane to contract extensions. They won't become unrestricted free agents for another year, but the Blackhawks don't want to enter the 2014-15 campaign with their future being unknown. "Nothing has changed from my original expectation that they're both going to be signed," Chicago GM Stan Bowman said. "We're looking forward to that."
