Though he was able to get in a non-contact practice Wednesday, Kane said that his 12-week recovery timetable hasn't changed, Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Coach Joel Quenneville also reiterated as much, but Kane still seems optimistic about beating that timetable after he was able to take to the ice earlier than most anticipated. Since Kane was placed on long-term injured reserve back in February and has a $10.5 million salary, it seems unlikely that the cap-strapped Blackhawks would even have the capacity to activate the winger before the end of the regular season, even if he was deemed fully healthy at that point. Instead, the Blackhawks will simply hope to have him back at some point in the playoffs, though it remains to be determined how early his return might come, if at all.

Kane (upper body) made a surprise return to Wednesday's practice, participating in a no-contact capacity, Tracey Myers of CSN Chicago reports.
Kane had been skating on his own for the last couple of weeks for what was believed to be conditioning purposes, but his return to practice suggests he's progressing much more rapidly than the Blackhawks even expected. The star winger was expected to be out of the lineup until deep in the postseason after he was given a 12-week recovery timetable upon suffering a broken clavicle Feb. 24; however, it now seems somewhat conceivable might not even miss any playoff games at all. As of yet, the Blackhawks haven't upgraded Kane's timetable, but given that the 25-year-old was already firing off wrist shots during Wednesday's practice, optimism certainly seems to be building.

Kane, who suffered a broken clavicle on Feb. 24, is making good progress, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Original estimates suggested that Kane wouldn't return before mid-May, assuming the Hawks were still in the playoffs at that time, but Monday's report suggests that there's a chance that the forward's timetable on that front could be altered favorably. "There's been some excellent progress," coach Joel Quenneville said Monday of Kane. "It could be good news. We'll see."

Kane, who is out with a broken clavicle, is still on track to return by the Western Conference Finals in the Stanley Cup playoffs if the Blackhawks get that far, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
The original diagnosis was that Kane would miss 12 weeks that put his return by the Western Conference Finals. Blackhawks' coach Joel Quenneville though sort of left open the door that he could return earlier. Kane has recently been skating on his own so it has spurred some optimism in the Blackhawks' camp that he will return before the conference finals.

Kane (upper body) took to the ice for a solo skate Friday, CSN Chicago's Tracey Myers reports.
It doesn't signal that Kane is closing in on a return to the lineup, nor does it indicate a change in his timetable, as coach Joel Quenneville indicated that the forward's 12-week recovery timetable hasn't changed. Consider it just an attempt for Kane to stay conditioned for what would be a late-postseason return in a best-case scenario.

Kane underwent successful surgery to repair a left clavicle fracture Wednesday, and he's expected to miss 12 weeks.
With the team's worst nightmare now confirmed, Chicago may look to make a move to add another winger to help compensate for the loss of Kane. Assuming the 12-week timetable holds up, Kane would be ready to return during the third round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, if the Blackhawks make it that far.

The Blackhawks have placed Kane (upper body) on long-term injured reserve, the team's official site reports.
In a corresponding move, the team recalled forward Teuvo Teravainen from AHL Rockford. Per the Chicago Sun-Times, there are fears that Kane suffered a clavicle injury Tuesday, and while the Hawks did not provide an official update on the forward's status Wednesday morning, ESPN.com has indicated that he'll be out 6-10 weeks.

Kane's upper-body injury is suspected to be a broken collarbone, Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune reports.
While the Blackhawks haven't confirmed the nature of the injury nor an expected length of absence, sources from within the organization have informed the media that Kane is expected to miss more than six weeks and possibly up to 10-plus weeks with the injury. That timeframe would keep him out for the remainder of the regular season and likely extend deep into the playoffs, robbing the Blackhawks of their most productive playmaker. With no one available on the trade market to easily replace Kane's offensive output, the Blackhawks could begin to slide down the Western Conference standings.

Kane (upper body) could miss between six to more than 10 weeks after being smashed into the boards by Florida's Alex Petrovic Tuesday night in the first period, the Chicago Tribune reports.
Hawks' Joel Quenneville said after the game that Kane would 'miss some time', but the time period was expected to explained on Wednesday. Depending on the length of time, it most likely would place Kane's return during the Stanley Cup playoffs. Kane sustained the injury on a cross check by the Panthers' Alex Petrovic near the eight-minute mark of the first period. The Blackhawks winger lost his balance after the hit and tumbled into the boards, appearing to hurt his left shoulder or arm. Both the team and fantasy owners alike are surely holding their breath for good news regarding Kane, who is tied for the league lead with 64 points on the season.

Kane (upper body) is expected to miss some time, but the time period will not be known until Wednesday, Hawks' Joel Quenneville told Megan Mawicke of CBS Sports.
