Nathan Lieuwen sustained a concussion in Sunday's game against Philadelphia. He was struck in the head by a shot from Jay Rosehill late in the game, but he managed to finish the contest. Lieuwen has a history of concussions dating back to his days in junior hockey, so he's probably done for the year.

Nathan Lieuwen will likely start consecutive games for the first time in his brief NHL career on Thursday. He was the first goaltender off the ice in the morning, so he's poised to play against the St. Louis Blues. He is coming off his first victory in his fifth appearance on Tuesday against New Jersey.

Nathan Lieuwen propelled the Sabres to a thrilling 3-2 victory over the Devils on Tuesday night, stopping 33 in regulation and seven shots on nine attempts in the shootout. Lieuwen's first career win comes in his third start for Buffalo, as the 22 year old took over the crease after injuries to both Jhonas Enroth and Michal Neuvirth. The shootout went into nine rounds, as Lieuwen stymied seven of the Devils' shooters until Ville Leino scored the winner.

The Buffalo Sabres will start Nathan Lieuwen against the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday. Lieuwen has a 0-2-0 record, 3.00 GAA, and .901 save percentage in four games. "He needs to be a little bit more aggressive," Sabres coach Ted Nolan said. "He's got the technical aspect down. The one thing with forwards is we want to see how competitive you are, and the same thing with goaltenders. You have to come out. You have to challenge. You have to get out like you want to stop the puck no matter where it's at. We want to see a little bit more of that." Lieuwen is getting playing time because both Jhonas Enroth and Michal Neuvirth are sidelined.

Buffalo goaltender Nathan Lieuwen struggled Sunday as the Sabres dropped a 4-2 decision to Vancouver. Lieuwen remains winless in his NHL career, holding just an 0-2-0 record, but playing behind Buffalo's weak supporting cast makes it impossible to judge him on his own merits. He stopped 32 of 36 shots in this game and now holds a 3.02 GAA and .903 save percentage.

Nathan Lieuwen will get the nod for Buffalo on Sunday versus Vancouver. The Abbotsford, British Columbia native will get to play in front of his friends and family in just his second NHL start. "It's incredible," Lieuwen said. "Obviously the past week has been a whirlwind for me but this is pretty special. They were my team growing up so it will be cool to play in this building."

Nathan Lieuwen allowed three goals on 26 shots in his first NHL start as Buffalo lost 3-1 to Calgary Tuesday night. Buffalo goaltenders Jhonas Enroth and Michal Neuvirth each suffered an upper-body injury in the past week so Lieuwen got the start for the Sabres. Lieuwen will continue to start as long as Enroth and Neuvirth will be sidelined.
