Lieuwen's first career win comes in his third start for Buffalo, as the 22 year old took over the crease after injuries to both Jhonas Enroth and Michal Neuvirth. The shootout went into nine rounds, as Lieuwen stymied seven of the Devils' shooters until Ville Leino scored the winner.
