Thompson, who is recovering from offseason shoulder surgery, participated in a pregame skate Wednesday, Elliott Teaford of the Los Angeles News Group reports.
EDGE Analysis
Thompson reportedly had been skating alone for weeks before reuniting with teammates Wednesday. However, the fourth-line center still appears to be without a definitive timetable for his 2015-16 regular-season debut. Look for Shawn Horcoff to continue picking up ice time in Thompson's absence.

Thompson (shoulder) was placed on the IR on Monday, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
The move is more of a procedural one, as Thompson was already slated to miss at least the first month of the season after undergoing left shoulder surgery in June. The club hasn't provided an updated timetable, but at this point a mid-November return seems like the best case scenario for the bottom-six forward.

Thompson required surgery to repair two labral tears in his left shoulder Friday, and will be sidelined for 5-to-6 months, Elliott Teaford of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.
The layoff is probably longer than the Ducks were expecting prior to Thompson's visit with the doctor, as the center now appears set to miss at least the first month of the 2015-16 season. Thompson first suffered the injury in the Ducks' final regular-season game on April 11, requiring him to miss the first-round sweep over the Jets. He was able to appear in the club's final 12 games and showed no limitations with his shoulder, providing two goals and six assists over those contests. Once he's healthy after the lengthy rehab process, expect Thompson to be plugged back in immediately in a bottom-six role for the Ducks.

Thompson will undergo shoulder surgery Thursday.
Thompson played through a shoulder injury during this year's postseason, and an MRI after the Ducks were eliminated revealed that he will need surgery. More information on Thompson's timetable should be available following the procedure.

Thompson played with a shoulder injury throughout the Ducks' playoff run, and will now undergo an MRI as a result.
The same shoulder injury prevented Thompson from suiting up for any of the four games of the Ducks' first round sweep of the Jets. Thompson was, however, able to play with the ailment throughout the rest of the Ducks' playoff run, starting with Game 1 of Anaheim's second round series against Calgary. The Ducks' should provide an update on his status once they receive the results of Thompson's MRI.

Thompson picked up an assist in Wednesday's Game 6 loss to the Blackhawks.
Thompson isn't typically one of Anaheim's more productive scorers, but he's been able to come away with a goal and four assists thus far in the series. Though it's been a nice run for the 30-year-old, his modest track record as a point producer suggests the Ducks shouldn't bank on him driving their offense in Saturday's Game 7.

Thompson scored his second goal of the playoffs and had an assist in Sunday's Game 1 win over Chicago.
It was the first multi-point game of the playoffs for Thompson, who has three points and a plus-4 rating in six games. The 30-year-old isn't a big point producer, but he isn't afraid to dish out the body and can score the occasional goal in a fourth-line role.

Thompson (upper body) will return to the lineup Thursday for the Ducks' second-round series opener against the Flames, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
The injury left Thompson unavailable for the Ducks' four-game sweep of the Jets in the first round, but he looks healthy now after returning to practice earlier this week. He'll center the team's fourth line, with Emerson Etem and Tim Jackman flanking him on the wings.

Thompson (upper body) appears poised to return to the Ducks' lineup, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Per the report, Thompson took regular turns at Tuesday's practice with Emerson Etem and Tim Jackman on the team's fourth line, so barring a setback, look for Thompson to be available for Thursday's Game 1 against the Flames. The veteran pivot finished up the regular season with 18 points in 80 games, so his status is only of note in the deepest of fantasy formats.

Coach Bruce Boudreau confirmed that Thompson (upper body) wouldn't play in Wednesday's Game 4, Helene Elliott of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Thompson was on the ice for Wednesday's morning skate, but isn't quite healthy enough to slot back in on the Ducks' fourth line. The team received steady play from Tomas Fleischmann in Thompson's stead in Game 3, so look for Fleischmann to be deployed again as the Ducks look to sweep the series.
