Nate Thompson scored the lone goal for the Lightning in their 2-1 overtime loss to the Jets on Saturday night.
Thompson may be getting his fair share of minutes lately (16:33 on Saturday), but he's not close to being a fantasy factor. He's low-upside bottom-six player, and his two goals and five points attest to that. Martin St. Louis and Radko Gudas had the helpers on the goal.

Nate Thompson was thrilled to win a bronze medal with Team USA at the IIHF World Championship.
He called it "a once in a lifetime experience I will never forget." It was his first medal and second time he has competed for the United States at the tournament. "It was awesome," he said. "With the group of guys we had an how young we were, I don't think anyone would have picked us to do that. We had a pretty resilient group." Thompson generated a goal, three points and a plus-1 rating in 10 games.

Nate Thompson has received a two-game suspension for his hit on New Jersey's Matt D'Agostini on Friday.
In the view of the NHL's Department of Player's Safety, Thompson "recklessly" targeted D'Agostini's head during a hit midway through the second period. Thompson was not immediately penalized for his actions and D'Agostini was able to finish the game. However, it's still a violation of Rule 48, so Thompson won't be eligible to play until April 6.

Nate Thompson has enjoyed playing for his hometown team, the Alaska Aces.
"It's been great," he said. "It's been a pretty good fit for me being home having my mom and dad and my friends and to be able to just jump in their cars and drive down to see me play rather than flying 4,000 miles. Then having buddies and friends that I grew up with from Alaska, now getting the opportunity to play with them, it's been pretty fun." Thompson has registered seven goals and 21 points in 23 ECHL contests this season. He also said he has "a good feeling" that the NHL will resume play in January.

Nate Thompson is happy to return to his roots with the ECHL's Alaska Aces.
He will play for a team he grew up watching, while the NHL lockout drags along, in front of friends and family. "I went to games every weekend," Thompson said. "I was part of the booster clubs. To be able to play in the rink I grew up in is going to be pretty neat." Thompson is looking forward to helping out on the team in a leadership capacity and he is open to learning new things himself.
