Mikko Koivu scored as the Wild came up short in their 3-2 shootout loss to the Avalanche on Saturday night.
Koivu, who scored with six seconds left, remains an overlooked, but solid source of points in fantasy leagues, as he now has six goals and 16 assists on the season. Matt Cooke scored the other goal. Jason Pominville, Zach Parise, Torrey Mitchell and Kyle Brodziak picked up the helpers.

Mikko Koivu, hot lately, scored both goals for Minnesota in the Wild's 2-1 triumph over the visiting Winnipeg Jets Sunday night.
The goals were Koivu's third and fourth of the season. The veteran center was slumping until recently, posting only 13 points in his first 19 games. But he has been solid in recent games, increasing his points and shots on net.

Mikko Koivu is beginning to show signs of a potential breakout in the near future.
Koivu has posted just 13 points in 19 contests this season, but there are some positive signs that a breakout is potentially on the horizon. Two indicators that are strongly correlated to point production are time-on-ice and shots on goal. During the past two weeks, Koivu has averaged 21:52 per contest, which is ranked eighth among all NHL forwards, while also averaging 2.83 shots on goal per game (ranked among the top 50). Add that to the fact that he also appears in over 60 percent of the Wild's power-play opportunities, which makes now an opportune time to see is you can "buy low" on his services. Send your Koivu owner an offer and see if you can get him at a discounted price.

Mikko Koivu generated a goal and two assists to help Minnesota earn a 5-1 victory versus Calgary Tuesday night.
He also won 11-of-15 faceoffs and posted a plus-2 rating. "It feels good to get that confidence a little higher individually and help the team to win," Koivu said. "That's our job to create and score goals." It was just his second goal of the season, but he does have 11 points in 16 contests.

Mikko Koivu skated between Charlie Coyle and Zach Parise at practice Saturday.
The trio played together for part of the lockout-shortened season. The line shuffling puts Coyle back on the wing after playing at center for his first three games of the year. It also reunites Koivu with Parise after they were separated for Friday's contest.

Mikko Koivu has collected five assists in Minnesota's first seven games this season.
He hasn't scored a goal yet despite taking 14 shots. Koivu is great on faceoffs and he's always been a better playmaker than a finisher, so we wouldn't be concerned with his lack of goals. He should pick up plenty of helpers with Zach Parise as his winger this year and the goals will start to come eventually.

Mikko Koivu missed Minnesota's Tuesday morning skate so that he could be with his wife while she's in labor.
This is obviously just an FYI in case you happen to notice Koivu's absence and were wondering why that is as this won't cause him to miss any games that count.
