Mikko Koivu will not return from his ankle injury on Thursday.
It's possible that he could be back in the lineup Friday night when Minnesota plays in Vancouver. Koivu hasn't played since Jan. 4, but he's very close to getting back into the fold.

Mikko Koivu (ankle) probably won't return on Thursday.
Part of the reason for that is Wild coach Mike Yeo's reluctance to use Koivu in back-to-back games off the bat. Minnesota is scheduled to play again on Friday and Koivu is much more likely to play in that contest.

Mikko Koivu (ankle) skated again on Monday.
He isn't ready to return yet, but he is making progress and he could be available for Thursday or Friday when the Wild get back to playing. "It's a lot better right now than what it was last week, so that's a good sign," Koivu said. "Still have a couple days here before the first game. We'll see tomorrow morning [how it feels]."

Mikko Koivu participated in Wednesday's practice, but he isn't ready to return from a broken ankle yet.
"As soon as I can, I will play," he said. "But I thought I would be ready right now in the Olympics [for Finland], so I don't really want to put a timetable on when I'm going to play. As long as it's getting better each and every day, I'm happy." Koivu had surgery two days after breaking his ankle on Jan. 4.

Mikko Koivu (ankle) has reportedly been cleared to practice and he's expected to participate in Wednesday's session.
If he does end up skating then it will be his first time on the ice with his teammates since he suffered a broken ankle on Jan. 4 against Washington.

Mikko Koivu has confirmed earlier reports that he will not play in the 2014 Winter Olympics.
Although Koivu waited as long as possible to make his decision, he had unfortunately been a long shot to participate in the games. The NHL will break for the Olympics after Saturday's contests, but Koivu still hasn't participated in a team practice. Finland will also have to get by without Valtteri Filppula.

Mikko Koivu (ankle) will reportedly miss the Winter Olympics.
That hasn't been officially confirmed, but it certainly wouldn't be surprising. He's been sidelined since Jan. 4 and he hasn't even been cleared to practice with the Wild yet. This is a major blow to Finland, which will also be without Valtteri Filppula.

Mikko Koivu (ankle) will not be able to play on Thursday.
The bigger question at this point is if Koivu will attempt to play in the Winter Olympics. He hasn't ruled it out, but it's becoming increasingly unlikely. That being said, the Wild aren't against him attempting to play so long as he gets medically cleared.

Mikko Koivu (ankle) skated Monday on his own, but he probably won't play this week.
He still hasn't been able to resume practices with his teammates. His availability for the Winter Olympics is uncertain too, but coach Mike Yeo won't stand in his way if he wants to represent Finland. "Even if he's medically cleared but physically the pain is too much to bear - we're talking about a great warrior and a guy who plays the game extremely hard, so that's all going to play into it," Yeo said. "I don't want to put words into his mouth. I just know he wants to play. He wants to be over there, he wants to represent his country and he also wants to look out for the best interest for our team."
