Mikko Koivu has confirmed earlier reports that he will not play in the 2014 Winter Olympics. Although Koivu waited as long as possible to make his decision, he had unfortunately been a long shot to participate in the games. The NHL will break for the Olympics after Saturday's contests, but Koivu still hasn't participated in a team practice. Finland will also have to get by without Valtteri Filppula.
