Mike Smith was solid in a 3-2 shootout loss versus the Detroit Red Wings Thursday night.
Smith made a whopping 40 saves through regulation and overtime, but yielded two goals on four attempts in the shootout to take the loss. Like Brian Elliott, Smith has been quite the waiver wire find this season for fantasy owners, posting a 16-11-6 record as well as very sold peripheral numbers.

Mike Smith was nearly unbeatable against the New York Islanders on Saturday night in the Phoenix Coyotes' 5-1 win.
Smith was actually the busier goaltender, making 31 saves in his first win in three starts since coming back from a groin injury suffered Dec. 20 -- though he's only given up five goals in those games. The netminder's only blemish came midway through the first period while the Isles were on the man advantage. Smith's record improved to 16-11-4, and he now has a 2.43 goals-against average and .922 save percentage.

Mike Smith had another solid night in net, but suffered the overtime loss in the Phoenix Coyotes' 1-0 setback to the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday night.
Smith made 27 saves, and even though he gave up three goals on 30 shots in his first game back (Jan. 3) since the groin injury he sustained Dec. 20, he really hasn't missed a beat. The 29-year-old has a 15-11-4 record with a 2.48 goals-against average and .921 save percentage. The Yotes have really struggled lately though, with four wins in their last 13 games, mostly due to an anemic offense, so Smith will have to be stingy to rack up wins.

Mike Smith was seemingly a sudden addition to the Phoenix Coyotes lineup, but he wasn't able to earn a win as the St. Louis Blues defeated them 4-1.
Smith allowed three goals on 30 shots, stopping exactly 90 percent of the attempts he faced. That's not an awful comeback performance, but fantasy owners who waited out his absence hope for more now that he's had a chance to shake off the rust.

The Phoenix Coyotes have activated Mike Smith (groin) from the injured reserve list.
Look for the Coyotes to return Curtis McElhinney to the minors with this move. Smith was having a very good season for the Coyotes before the injury on December 20. He is 15-10-3 with a 2.52 GAA and a .920 save percentage. Get ready to activate him as he is likely to start on Tuesday.

Mike Smith (groin) has been skating before practice the last two days.
Smith has been out the last eight days with the groin injury but coach Dave Tippett thinks that Smith will be able to take shots on during practice soon. "We think when he's ready to jump out there and practice and take shots, he'll be there," Tippett said. Stay tuned as Jason LaBarbera will be in goal tonight.
