Matt Moulson snapped his 13-game goalless drought with his 12th goal in Tuesday's 5-2 win over Winnipeg. He also had an assist and eight shots in the match. John Tavares finished the contest with a goal and an assist as well, while Brad Boyes and Mark Streit contributed two assists each. Frans Nielsen scored the game-winning goal on a power play, while Anders Lee sniped his first career marker.

Matt Moulson hasn't scored a goal since March 5, but he isn't exactly struggling. Moulson has recorded 10 assists in his last 11 games. He's known more for his ability to find the back of the net after reaching the 30-goal milestone in three consecutive campaigns. His shooting percentage is way down this season, but he's been finding other ways to succeed with 11 goals and 35 points in 35 games.

Since Tavares entered the league at 18 at the start of the 2009-10 season, Moulson has 104 goals, good for ninth in the NHL during that span. He's had three straight 30-goal seasons, jump-starting his career as a 26-year-old. This season he has seven goals and 17 points, while Tavares has 11 goals and 20 points. We know what Tavares can do, but Moulson is an excellent play as well so long as he has Tavares centering him.

The two-goal outburst snapped a five-game goalless drought for the 29-year-old forward. Despite the slump, Moulson has been productive this campaign with six markers and 13 points in 12 matches. He added five shots in Monday's defeat to give him 40 shots total on the year. Riding shotgun with star player John Tavares has its advantages, but Moulson deserves plenty of credit in his own right for being able to capitalize on his chances.
