Matt Moulson contributed two assists and three shots in Buffalo's shootout win over San Jose Tuesday night. He has four assists in his last two games and six points over four outings with the Sabres. Zemgus Girgensons also collected a pair of helpers in the game.

Matt Moulson failed to register a shot on goal in his second game as a member of the Buffalo Sabres. After he recorded a pair of goals in his first game with the team, Moulson fell back to Earth in his second, posting a minus-1 rating in 17:28 of ice time.

His arrival seems to have sparked Tyler Ennis, who generated two assists in the loss, while Steve Ott also found the back of the net for Buffalo.

Matt Moulson will make his Buffalo debut Monday night when Dallas visits. Coach Ron Rolston plans to have Moulson take Thomas Vanek's spot on the top line with center Cody Hodgson. Brian Flynn is projected to join Moulson and Hodgson. Moulson notched six goals and three assists in 11 games with the Islanders prior to the move.

Matt Moulson wanted to negotiate a long-term deal with the Islanders in the off-season according to Newsday. Arthur Staple of Newsday heard rumblings that Moulson was not happy that the Islanders did not begin negotiating in the off-season and then when Josh Bailey and Travis Hamonic were signed to long-term deals, and nothing was happening with him, disappointment set in. Look for Moulson to take a hit fantasy-wise as the Sabres do not have a Tavares or anyone close to his stature. Moulson will likely get dealt closer to the trade deadline and likely to a contender so he should regain a lot of his fantasy value at that time.

The Buffalo Sabres have acquired left winger Matt Moulson from the New York Islanders in exchange for forward Thomas Vanek. Also dealt to the Sabres for their top gunner were a first round draft pick in 2014 and a 2015 second round pick. Moulson is no slouch. He emerged as a very competent sidekick to Isles superstar John Tavares. He scored 15 goals and added 29 assists in 47 games in 2013. Moulson has scored six goals and three assists with the Islanders in 11 games so far in 2013-14. Like Vanek, Moulson is set to become an unrestricted free agent at season's end.

Matt Moulson scored twice in a the Islanders' 5-4 overtime loss to Vancouver Tuesday night. Moulson's five goals on the season tie him with Frans Nielson, who also scored Tuesday night, for the team lead. Through nine games, Moulson is fourth on New York with eight points.

Matt Moulson scored once and added two assists as he and the New York Islanders were edged 4-3 by the visiting Carolina Hurricanes Saturday night. Moulson's goal, scored on a power play, was his third of the season. Also scoring for the Isles were Frans Neilsen (fourth) and Kyle Okposo (third).

Matt Moulson was forced to play on Friday after his wife gave birth to their second child but the pressure came from Moulson's family and not the Islanders. Islanders coach Jack Capuano gave Moulson the choice of whether or not to meet the team in Chicago for that night's game or meet up with the team in Nashville. "I love to play hockey. I love my family more than hockey, but my wife and my in-laws were pretty insistent that I get to the game," Moulson said. "My wife is a strong woman. I wouldn't have left her if I didn't think she could handle it. If I played poorly, it had nothing to do with that." Moulson's wife's sister is married to Jonathan Quick of the Kings so his in-laws really are involved with hockey. By the way, Moulson played 18:12 minutes against the Blackhawks with a rare minor and a couple of shots on goal.
