Foligno told reporters a deal with Minnesota was "very close" with camp kicking off Thursday, Michael Russo of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Foligno -- who was brought in via a summer trade -- has been working toward a new contract throughout much of the offseason. A restricted free agent, the winger doesn't have much leverage other than a potential hold out -- although it sounds like that isn't a route he is considering taking. The 26-year-old potted 13 goals and 10 helpers last season which marked his third consecutive season of reaching the 20-point threshold.

Foligno, a restricted free agent, is the last player the Wild will need to sign ahead of the 2017-18 season.
EDGE Analysis
The Sabres sent Foligno packing -- along with Tyler Ennis and a 2018 third-round pick -- in a late-June trade for Jason Pominville, Marco Scandella and a fourth-round draft choice for next year. Minnesota killed off 83 percent of its penalties last season (good for eighth in the league) but Foligno should bolster that unit even more. Assuming he's given around 15 minutes of ice time per contest -- the same level of playing time he'd had in his native Buffalo -- Foligno should be able to hover around the mid 20s for a point total this coming season.

The Sabres traded Foligno, Tyler Ennis, and a draft pick to the Wild on Friday in exchange for Jason Pominville and Marco Scandella, Michael Russo of the Star Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Foligno -- a pending restricted free agent who had a qualifying offer on the table from Buffalo -- racked up 279 hits with the Swords last season, which easily represented a career high and resulted in a fifth-place ranking in the entire league for said category. Furthermore, he's an efficient offensive producer who averaged 22 points in his final three years with Buffalo -- despite skating for a modest 15:28 of ice time. Look out for Foligno in leagues that heavily weigh defensive contributions, knowing that his plus-minus could also spike on a team that sported the best goal differential (plus-58) in the Western Conference in 2016-17.

Foligno received a qualifying offer from the Sabres, making him a restricted free agent.
EDGE Analysis
It was a relatively easy decision for the Sabres, who must be pleased with the progress Foligno has shown over the past two seasons. Labeled as a fourth-line winger with very little upside, Foligno has managed to score 10 goals and 20 points in each of his past two seasons, and remains one of the team's most physical players. Foligno will likely receive a contract with a similar worth to the $2.25 million he earned this past season, and barring any surprises should remain with the Sabres for the foreseeable future. His fantasy value, however, is still very limited because of his lack of high-end skill.

Foligno was protected by the Sabres for the expansion draft.
EDGE Analysis
Foligno, who is a restricted free agent and expected to re-sign with the Sabres, finished the season with a career-high 13 goals. It's the second straight year the 25-year-old has scored more than 10 goals and 20 points, and certainly showed improvement over the course of the season. He missed the final two games due to a knee injury, but he's expected to be healthy by training camp. A physical winger who registered 279 hits, Foligno was a fixture on the Sabres' top three lines, which is where he's expected to play again next season.

Foligno finished the season with a career-high 13 goals, 12 of which came at even strength, and matched last year's total of 23 points.
EDGE Analysis
Foligno missed the last two games of the season due to a knee injury, but had one of the most productive seasons of his career. He finished the season with 279 hits in 80 games, an average of 3.5 hits per game, which is second only to Toronto's Matt Martin. After toiling on the team's bottom two lines to begin his career, Foligno's improvement and consistency saw him get promoted to Jack Eichel's left wing in the second half of the season, and his physical play often helped open the ice for Eichel and right winger Sam Reinhart. Another encouraging sign in Foligno's development is his increased willingness to shoot the puck, and for the fourth straight season he improved his shooting percentage. Foligno is penciled in as the second-line left winger for now, and if he maintains that spot he may be poised for a breakout season next year.

Foligno (knee) has been ruled out for the final two games of the year.
EDGE Analysis
Foligno will end the season just one point shy of setting a new career high, instead repeating his 2015-16 total of 23. While he has been primarily utilized in a second-line role, the winger averaged just 15:28 this season and was not a part of the Sabres' power play. Unless he can expand his responsibilities to 5-on-4 situations, the 25-year-old will remain a mid-range fantasy option as best.

Foligno (knee) won't return to Wednesday's matchup with Montreal.
EDGE Analysis
The severity of Foligno's ailment is currently unknown, but the Sabres only have two games left in the 2016-17 campaign, so he could be in danger of missing the rest of the season. More information regarding Foligno's availability for Saturday's game against the Panthers should be released in the coming days.

Foligno scored a goal and logged 18:31 of ice time during Monday's win over Florida.
EDGE Analysis
The 25-year-old winger has been bouncing up and down the depth chart for most of the season, so while he spent the majority of the night with Jack Eichel and Sam Reinhart on Monday, he could find himself in a bottom-six role sooner than later. Foligno appears to have also plateaued offensively with 20, 23 and 23 points over the past three seasons, respectively, and his fantasy value has been tied more to his contributions in the PIM (71) and hits (266) columns this year. However, when he's projected to play with Eichel and Reinhart, Foligno is a potential value play in daily contests.

Foligno scored a shorthanded goal and an empty-netter in Thursday's 6-3 win over Arizona.
EDGE Analysis
Thursday's production equaled his output from the prior 23 games put together, which should tell you a lot about Foligno's fantasy value. He has set himself a new career high in goals with 12, but unless your league counts hits (where he's elite) and PIM (where he contributes decently), he's not worth owning in most formats.
