Foligno (illness) is healthy and ready to go for Friday's clash with Dallas.

After picking up an illness prior to the team's trip to Dallas, there was some initial concern Foligno might not be able to suit up. The Buffalo native remains pointless through the first six games of the season; however, that shouldn't come as a huge surprise considering he is averaging a mere 10:34 of ice time. The winger is unlikely to offer much in terms of offensive production -- he has just two shots on goal -- but could serve as a low-end option in deeper formats that reward hits (17) and blocks (seven0.

Foligno is dealing with an illness and Wild coach Bruce Boudreau is trying to determine if the winger will accompany the team to Dallas for Friday's clash with the Stars.

EDGE Analysis

"He was feeling a little under the weather," Boudreau said Wednesday. "We'll reevaluate before we get on the plane." Fortunately, it appears that fantasy owners depending on Foligno will be informed of his status well in advance of Minnesota's next game. This might be a moot point, though, as Foligno likely has drawn fractional ownership rates in fantasy. After all, he's been held without a point through the first six games of the 2018-19 season and is only averaging 10:35 of ice time.

Foligno had two blocks in 8:29 of ice time in Thursday's loss at Colorado.

EDGE Analysis

Foligno begins the season the fourth line where the Wild like his contributions while in a checking role. The the 26-year-old has averaged over 200 hits over the last five seasons and topped 70 PIM in each of the last three, but his offensive limitations restrict him to the fourth line and keep him completely out of the mix for power-play time.

Foligno notched just one point -- a goal -- during the five-game series against the Jets after finishing the regular season with eight goals and 15 assists over 77 games.

EDGE Analysis

Foligno matched his career-high mark set each of the last two seasons with 23 points again in 2017-18, but he's yet to make a leap to the point of being useful in the vast majority of fantasy leagues. He also saw a career-low 10:52 of ice time on average in his first season with the Wild, likely do in part to an increase in surrounding talent. Foligno remains under contract with the Wild for three more seasons, but it may be past the point in the 29-year-old's career where we can expect a breakout.

Foligno scored the game-winning goal in a 3-1 road win over the Coyotes on Saturday.

EDGE Analysis

The bottom-six winger is up to eight goals and 14 assists through 66 games. Foligno uses his size and strength to control the puck and lay into the opposition. In addition to his attacking-zone efficiency, he's racked up 159 hits this season. You'd have to be in a fairly deep league to find him useful, but he's supported well in that Minnesota offense and at the very least checks out as a value play in DFS settings.

Foligno scored his seventh goal of the season in Friday's win over Vancouver.

EDGE Analysis

He has just four goals and 11 assists in his last 53 games as he's more of a defensive forward with 150 hits. He's on pace to top his 23 points from last season, however.

Foligno set up two goals in Thursday's 6-3 loss to the Penguins.

Foligno's two helpers didn't come until the third period and by then the Wild were looking up at a blowout loss. The American winger has tallied three points in his last three games. However, until Foligno can continue more consistently (which hasn't been his reputation) he cannot be depended on outside of daily leagues right now.

It was his first multi-point game since Oct. 26. Foligno has 13 points in 42 games, which is a similar pace to that of his last two seasons. He is what he is, and that limits him in fantasy.

Foligno had an assist and two hits in 11:15 of ice time in Thursday's win over Buffalo.

Chris Stewart was the odd man out among forwards with the return of the recent return of Nino Niederreiter and Zach Parise from injury. It's possible the Wild rotate the forward who sits out each night, but it looks like Foligno will keep his ice time on the last line. He has an assist in each of the last two games.

Foligno did not have a shot on goal in 8:59 of ice time in Tuesday's win at Ottawa.

Foligno has been the odd man out lately as he's been a healthy scratch in two of the last three games amid a slump on offense. He has just one goal and three assists in his last 22 games. He's also averaged just 9:19 of ice time in the last two games he has played.
