Schenn was on the ice for the Flyers' morning skate, but it appears he still has a little more work to do before team doctors sign off on his return to the lineup. He hasn't been ruled out from rejoining the lineup for the second game of the back-to-back Thursday against the Wild, but Saturday's game against the Blue Jackets probably represents the more realistic target date.

Schenn (upper body) practiced with the team Monday, Tim Panaccio of CSN Philadelphia reports. With the Flyers off until taking on the Rangers on Wednesday, it would be reasonable to expect Schenn to return to the lineup. The blueliner has a goal and an assist in 14 games on the season.

Schenn scored his first goal of the season Tuesday, capping off a 4-1 victory over Edmonton. He's not much of a point-getter, with just two this year and only 23 in the past two seasons combined, so don't look for Schenn to offer much fantasy value aside from his plentiful hits and blocks.

Schenn has just one point in the first eight contests while sporting a paltry minus-7 rating. The entire Flyers' defense has struggled, so the low rating isn't a fair assessment of the young defenseman's abilities. Nonetheless, until the Flyers can fix their defense, fantasy owners should be wary of starting him against high-powered offenses.

"The most glaring fact from the seven-game series (won by the Rangers) remains the most startling: the Flyers' best defenseman was . . . drumroll, please . . . Luke Schenn," Seravalli writes.

Luke Schenn's second period goal was the winner as the Flyers beat the Rangers 4-2 Sunday. It was only his second postseason appearance as Schenn spent the first four seasons of his career playing for Toronto and was dealt to the Flyers in the 2012 off-season. This season was the first time his team had played in the playoffs and he picked up his first goal in only his second playoff game. "It's nice," Schenn said. "Obviously, it's nice to contribute offensively. I try to take care of the D zone first, but it was nice to contribute. In playoffs, it doesn't matter who does it. Everyone's got to chip in."

Luke Schenn is eager to make his playoffs debut. Schenn has played in 422 NHL games without making a single postseason appearance. There's a good chance he will end that streak in the near future though. "In Toronto for a few years there, I hate to say it, but you were pretty much out of it from the All-Star break or the Olympic break," Schenn said. "After the break, it was always about playing for a job for next year or trying to play the spoiler. It's completely different, trying to help a team get in. This is a lot more exciting. It's real exciting to come to the rink every day." He doesn't have much fantasy value in standard leagues, but that's because he's more of a defensive defenseman.
