Luke Schenn's name has been coming up in popular trade rumors. One popular rumor involves Schenn going to Philadelphia in a deal involving James van Riemsdyk. Such a trade would unite Luke with his younger brother Brayden. Rumors like this are bound to pop up as we approach the trade deadline and while some of them might prove to be true, many of them won't. For his part, Schenn isn't buying into the speculation. "I'm happy being here in Toronto," Schenn said. "They're just rumours and it doesn't really mean much to me."

Defenseman Luke Schenn collected two assists to emerge as the Toronto Maple Leafs' top point producer in a 6-3 loss to the Boston Bruins Wednesday night. The Leafs jumped out to a 1-0 lead on Mikhail Grabovski's sixth goal of the season on a power play at 7:29 of the first period but the Bruins tied it before the end of the period and never trailed after that. Joffrey Lupul scored his 12th goal of the season for the Leafs, and rookie Matt Frattin delivered his second goal.

Luke Schenn will play in Tuesday's game after being a healthy scratch on Saturday. Although we know Schenn couldn't have single handily saved the Leafs from the 7-0 loss they suffered on Saturday, the fact that they blew up on the night he was relegated to the press box couldn't have hurt his standing with the team. Schenn doesn't have a lot of fantasy value in most leagues, but the defensive defenseman is great in leagues that use hits and blocked shots as two of their categories.

Luke Schenn will be a healthy scratch for the Maple Leafs on Saturday. This was the fear for Leafs fans when the club signed him long-term. Schenn has had an up-and-down career thus far. He will be replaced in the lineup by Cody Franson.

Luke Schenn will face his younger brother Brayden when the Leafs battle the Flyers in Philadelphia on Monday night. "Dreams don't always come true, but in our circumstance we're lucky they did," said Luke. "You work hard and you push each other along the whole way. Him being a forward, me being a defenseman, we had one-on-one battles growing up as a kid in the backyard rink. It's definitely special for us both being in the NHL." Schenn has three assists and 15 penalty minutes in seven games for the Leafs in his fourth season, while Brayden will be skating in his third career contest after being summoned from the minors by the Flyers. The game will mark the first time the brothers have squared off in a regular season NHL match, so it will be special for them and their parents, who will be attendance.

Luke Schenn has agreed to a five-year contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs. While no terms were announced, it is being rumored that the blueliner will receive approximately $3.5 million per season. Schenn had five goals and 22 points last season, his third in the NHL, so he is not a fantasy asset, although he does chip in with penalty minutes. With the signing, Drew Doughty remains the only restricted free agent who would garner a lot of interest from NHL teams if he was unrestricted.

Luke Schenn is still confident that a deal will be reached with Toronto prior to training camp. "There's no reason to stress out about it because both sides want to get it done," said Schenn following an informal practice with the team in Toronto on Wednesday. "It will get done at some point." Schenn is currently a restricted free agent after finishing his entry-level deal with the Maple Leafs last season. Stay tuned for updates.

Luke Schenn's agent Don Meehan said he expects to meet with the Toronto Maple Leafs this week to continue contract talks. GM Brian Burke is still confident that a deal will be worked out prior to training camp and we'll keep you posted when something happens.

Toronto's Senior Vice-President of Hockey Operations Dave Nonis is confident that Luke Schenn will have a new contract with the club before training camp. "Contracts sometimes take a little longer to get done," Nonis told TSN 1050 Radio Thursday morning. "This isn't the first one that's gone into late August. When you're starting point is the player wants to be here and the team wants to have him, usually you find a way to get it done." Stay tuned.

Luke Schenn is confident that he'll agree to terms with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Schenn is a restricted free agent after leading the Leafs with 251 hits and 168 blocked shots in 2010-11. "Something will get figured out for sure," Schenn said. He later added, "No question I want to be part of things going forward and help achieve some success. Being drafted here (the Leafs traded up to get him fifth overall) was a dream come true for a kid and I got to experience a lot at a young age. I want to be part of the organization, hopefully, into the future." At the worst, the Leafs and Schenn will probably agree to a one-year deal, but we wouldn't be surprised if he ends up signing a long-term contract this summer. We'll keep you posted.
