The Red Wings are confident they'll be able to re-sign restricted free agent Kyle Quincey. Detroit traded a first-round pick for the defenseman in late February, partially because it realized there was some uncertainty for their defensive core's future. Now, the Wings have five defensemen under contract for next season. Quincey notched seven goals and 26 points this past season. The 26-year-old is coming off a two-year, $6.25 million deal.

After a while you kind of see where you fit in. Special teams are where I fit in here the most. You know your role. You come to the rink every day and you know what you have to focus on." Quincey is a restricted free agent come the first of July but expect him to re-sign with the Red Wings who gave the Lightning their first round pick in June's draft to acquire Quincey. He was also named to Team Canada on Saturday for the World Tournament as the Canadians suffered an injury to their blueline when P.K. Subban was sent home.
