If the Rangers' third line can build off their strong showing Sunday, Hayes could be a guy worth targeting down this final stretch.

While we wouldn't blame owners for bailing on the 23-year-old, there's a solid chance the promising 23-year-old gets a chance at redemption soon.

Just his second point in the last 10 games, Hayes' struggles coincide with the team's latest rut (2-6-2), leading us to believe the second year sophomore's total ice time (10 minutes) in the loss was a message from head coach Alain Vigneault. While the assist may have bought Hayes a little, we wouldn't put it past Vigneault to scratch someone to send a message to the entire team. Hayes is plus-3 with 16 points through 31 games.

Hayes' two-point effort, his second of the season, snaps a poor three-game stretch where he had zero points and a minus-3 rating. He's one of six Rangers who have at least six goals, proving that he's valuable member of their offense. He's on pace to at least match his 45-point rookie campaign in his second season as a pro. The 6-foot-5 power forward should be aiming to score 20 goals this year. He has some value in fantasy, but guessing who will score each night for the Rangers could prove difficult.
