Morrissey will likely face additional discipline by the league under repeat offender status, as he was most recently suspended for one-game during the 2018 Stanley Cup playoffs. Considering DPS labeled the incident "unsportsmanlike conduct", it would seem the blueliner might be facing a length stint in the press box. Sami Niku figures to slot into the lineup if Morrissey misses any time.

Morrissey had a goal and an assist Saturday in a 5-3 victory over Arizona. Both came on the power play.

Morrissey was tendered a qualifying offer by the Jets on Monday.

Considering Morrissey missed just one game in the previous two seasons and logged over 20 minutes of ice time per game last year, there was little chance he wasn't going to be given a qualifying offer. The team may wait to sign the 22-year-old to a long-term deal until it knows whether Paul Stastny will be returning and, if so, for how much.

Morrissey was the lone goal-scorer for the Jets in Sunday's 2-1 series loss to the Golden Knights.

Morrisey tied it up in the first period, driving home a slap shot following Bryan Little's faceoff win. This was the defenseman's first goal of the 2018 Stanley Cup playoffs, and it had given the home crowd some hope before fourth-liner Ryan Reaves of the Golden Knights silenced Bell MTS Place with what turned out to be the game-winning goal in the second frame. Dustin Byfuglien is undoubtedly the most popular blueliner on the Jets, but fantasy owners shouldn't forget about Morrisey in drafts this fall. After all, he compiled 26 points, 139 hits, 168 blocked shots to complement a plus-15 rating for a solid two-way profile over the course of the regular season.

Having served his suspension, Morrissey will be available for Game 1 against Nashville.

Morrissey's absence for Game 5 versus the Jets on Friday didn't seem to affect the Jets much as they cruised to a 5-0 victory over Minnesota. The 22-year-old's replacement, Tucker Poolman, saw just 12:19 of ice time and will almost certainly be relegated to the press box with Morrissey back in action.

Morrissey was handed a one-game suspension for his cross-check of Minneosta's Eric Staal in Game 4.

EDGE Analysis

Morrissey notched his first point of the postseason during Saturday's contest and generally fits in as an option for daily purposes. Those looking for some production along the blue line will have to look elsewhere in Game 5, though the Jets don't have a ton to worry about entering the contest with a 3-1 series advantage.

Morrissey will be subjected to a league hearing Wednesday for cross-checking Eric Staal during Tuesday's eventual 2-0 win over the Wild for Game 4.

Morrissey insists that the cross-check to the neck of Staal was "a complete accident," as relayed from Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun, and while no penalty was called and Staal didn't leave the game injured, the NHL's Department of Player Safety will still take a long look at the controversial play.
