The Islanders' first-round, 28th overall draft selection from 2014 was scratched from the past two games, and the Isles winning both of those without him certainly didn't help his case to stay up in the NHL. Ho-Sang does have four assists through six games this season, but he's probably worth dropping in shallow leagues due to his current placement in the AHL.

Ho-Sang will be a healthy scratch for Saturday's home game versus the Sharks, Arthur Staple of Newsday reports.

The highly touted prospect from the right wing watched on helplessly during Friday night's Opening Night matchup against the Blue Jackets; his team was handled easily, losing 5-0 on the road. Fantasy owners should consider plugging Ho-Sang into daily lineups, as he's a tremendous talent who can handle a top-six role and strutted his stuff to the tune of four goals (on an 18.2 shooting percentage) six assists and a pair of power-play points.

Ho-Sang has had loads of hype surrounding him following his emergence at the end of last season and after a strong preseason, so it's a bit puzzling to see head coach Doug Weight elect to play veteran Jason Chimera in Ho-Sang's stead Friday. Either way, the bench won't be able to hold the young stud for long and he's still a good candidate to break out in 2017-18.

Stephen Gionta is New York's only pending unrestricted free agent, but Ho-Sang should be a part of the parent club's plans from the get go since more than half of the forwards will hit free agency in 2018-19.

The rookie has now posted four goals and 10 points through his past 14 games. Ho-Sang has been a polarizing player climbing the ranks to the NHL, but he's clearly capable of producing offensively and owns a bright fantasy future. With John Tavares (lower body) out of the mix, there is also potential for Ho-Sang to take on a larger role. Additionally, It isn't out of the question that the 21-year-old forward takes another step forward during his first full season in the league next year.

His goal was just as big as his assist, as it started a second-period comeback that erased a 2-0 deficit. After going scoreless in his first three NHL games, Ho-Sang has suddenly torn off six points in his last five. That makes him a person of interest across the fantasy universe -- if he wasn't already.

Ho-Sang is expected to make his debut with the Islanders on Thursday in Dallas, Arthur Staple of Newsday reports.

EDGE Analysis

The Islanders didn't make any moves at the trade deadline so their big addition is one of their prized prospects in Ho-Sang. He is likely to play on a line with Andrew Ladd and Brock Nelson but chemistry will determine if that line will remain intact as the game progresses.
