Bernier stopped 16 of 18 shots in relief of an injured John Gibson in Saturday's Game 5 loss to Nashville.
EDGE Analysis
Gibson said he should be ready for Game 6, so don't expect the Ducks to turn back to Bernier. The former Maple Leaf has posted a .905 save percentage in three relief appearances this postseason, failing to make the impact he would need to make to even be considered to start a game in place of Gibson. He's a reliable backup in Anaheim, but the crease is Gibson's and it'll take a serious injury or a major slump for Bernier to get a shot.

Bernier led his team onto the ice for the start of the second period against Nashville on Saturday, replacing John Gibson for unknown reasons, Thomas Willis of NHL.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
It is unclear what kept John Gibson from continuing to play, especially since he finished the first period. Nevertheless, Bernier will have a chance to give the Ducks a series-clinching opportunity Monday. He has recorded a .911 save percentage and 2.84 GAA in two appearances this postseason. We'll continue to update as information becomes available.

Bernier stopped 25 of 29 shots in relief of John Gibson in Sunday's Game 6 loss to the Oilers.
EDGE Analysis
Gibson has struggled this postseason and this marks the second time Bernier has had to come in for relief. He was perfect in his round-one relief appearance, but didn't stand much of a chance Sunday in a game the Ducks lost by a 7-1 score. Gibson hasn't been at his best, but it's very unlikely Bernier starts a game this postseason, so have him down as a reliable backup option for now.

Bernier stopped all 16 shots in relief and earned a 5-4 overtime win over the Flames in Game 3 on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Starter John Gibson was yanked midway through the second period after allowing four goals on just 16 shots, thrusting Bernier into action. He was perfect, which allowed the Ducks to mount an unlikely comeback by scoring four goals, the last of which came just 1:30 into the extra frame by Corey Perry. The Ducks are now up 3-0 in the series and have a ton of breathing room with the Flames on the ropes, so it wouldn't be surprising to see the team turn back to Bernier for Game 4 on Wednesday. Then again, they may want to give Gibson another shot given the relatively low-pressure scenario. Stay tuned.

Bernier allowed three goals on just 18 shots but still helped the Ducks beat the Kings in overtime, 4-3.
EDGE Analysis
The 28-year-old posted a .934 save percentage and went 11-0-2 in his final 13 games, but he wasn't as sharp in the last three games of that stretch, submitting a .875 save percentage. That makes him a questionable goaltender to trust heading into the postseason, but the Ducks regular starter John Gibson might be back for Game 1 of the first round anyway. Despite the tough end, Bernier still finished with 21 victories, a .915 save percentage and 2.50 GAA. All those totals were better than last season's.

Bernier will start Sunday's game against the Kings.
EDGE Analysis
As such, it would appear that John Gibson has the inside track on starting Game 1 of the playoffs for the Ducks, but that's still yet to be determined. Bernier has been fantastic in his last 12 outings, however, posting a 10-0-2 record with a tidy 1.88 GAA and .937 save percentage, which has helped him to the 20-win plateau for the third time in his career. He'll face a Kings squad playing solely for pride Sunday.

Bernier stopped 18 of 21 shots in Sunday's win over the Flames.
EDGE Analysis
It wasn't a very busy night for Bernier, but he was good enough to earn his sixth win in his last seven starts. Bernier is sporting a fantastic .917 save percentage and continues to get the job done whenever he's called upon. John Gibson will be the team's starting goalie entering the postseason, but Bernier has proven he's very capable of stepping in if anything goes wrong.

Bernier will be between the pipes Sunday against the Flames.
EDGE Analysis
After turning the net over to John GIbson on Saturday in an overtime loss in Edmonton, Bernier will get right back at it in a date with the Flames. With a 9-0-2 record, 1.78 GAA and sterling .942 save percentage over his last 11 starts, Bernier makes for a fantastic play and should give the Flames a real run for their money despite the fact the Ducks are on the second half of a back-to-back set.

Bernier stopped 37 of 41 shots in a 4-3 overtime loss to the Jets on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
The overtime loss officially snapped Bernier's five-game winning streak, but the fact remains that he hasn't lost in regulation in 11 games, going a stellar 9-0-2 during that span with equally impressive rations (1.78 GAA, .942 save percentage). Based on his recent surge, you'd have to think he has the inside track on John Gibson for starting duties in the playoffs, but it'll be interesting to see what shakes out in the Ducks' final five games of the regular season.

Bernier was first off the ice at morning skate Thursday, indicating that he'll draw the road start versus the Jets, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bernier has been phenomenal this month, crafting 10 wins in 12 outings to complement a skinny 1.65 GAA and similarly impressive .946 save mark over that span. There was some thought that coach Randy Carlyle would turn to the now-healthy John Gibson in this next contest, but understandably doesn't want to fix what isn't broken in goal. The Ducks have six games left and are two points ahead of the Sharks for the Pacific Division lead.
