Gibson was strong between the pipes Thursday night, blocking 27 of 29 shots to the Kings, but he still took a loss in the battle for first place in the Pacific Division.
EDGE Analysis
Gibson has fashioned a 2.02 GAA in four April starts, but the Ducks have gone cold offensively, helping the goalie to just one win and seven goals of support over that span. It would've been great for Gibson's psyche to drive his team to a division title, but now he can focus on what promises to be an intense playoff grind. Meanwhile, goalie teammate Frederik Anderson is still trying to overcome a concussion.

EDGE Analysis
His sixth straight start for the Ducks with Frederick Anderson (concussion) still sidelined, The youngster continues to impress in goal, allowing two or less past him in four of the last five games. The Ducks face their cross-town rivals (Kings) in a matchup Wednesday that could help determine the winner of the Pacific division. Gibson will be key to the game, looking to stave off a Kings club that's averaged 3.00 goals per game this month. However he's already beaten the opposition twice in three tries this season, posting a 2.34 GAA and .913 save percentage in the matchups.

It was another strong outing for Gibson, as he's now won three of his last four starts while allowing just two total goals in the wins in that span. Gibson will protect the net Sunday against the Stars, Eric Stephens of The Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
With Frederik Andersen (concussion) sidelined for the indefinite future, the Ducks will likely turn to Gibson a lot down the stretch. He was beaten three times on 26 shots in Friday's loss to the Canucks and faces a tough matchup again Sunday against the league's top offense in Dallas (3.25 goals per game). Gibson's home splits (1.84 GAA, .929 save percentage, 12-7-2 record) drastically outpace his road stats, leaving no reason to sit him in season-long formats. Considering the possible price drop due to the opponent, the youngster may be an option in daily lineups as well.

Gibson gave up three goals on 26 shots in Friday's loss to the Canucks.
EDGE Analysis
Anaheim had a chance to reclaim first place in the Pacific Division, but a late goal from former Duck Emerson Etem gave Vancouver the victory. The loss comes after Gibson turned in terrific performances against Edmonton and Calgary. The 22-year-old still owns a .919 save percentage, and with Frederik Andersen (concussion) sidelined, he makes for a very attractive fantasy option down this final stretch.

Gibson will start in goal Friday against the Canucks, Elliott Teaford of the Southern California News Group reports.
EDGE Analysis
With Frederik Andersen (concussion) sidelined for an undetermined amount of time, the Ducks will likely roll with Gibson a lot down the stretch. He's been impressive in his two outings against Vancouver this season, taking home victories in both games, and there is no reason to believe that won't be the case against a depleted opposition again Friday.

Gibson stopped all 21 shots he faced while playing the first period and a half, and all of the third in Anaheim's 23rd straight home victory over the Flames.
EDGE Analysis
Gibson was pulled for rest purposes after making 13 saves with the Ducks leading 5-0 halfway through the second period, but got re-inserted for the third after backup Frederik Andersen gave up three goals on five shots. The young netminder was unfazed by the interruption, stopping all eight Flames shots in the final frame as the Ducks cruised to an 8-3 victory. Gibson's position as the team's No. 1 option heading into the postseason was further confirmed in this one judging by the discrepancy in effectiveness between Anaheim's two goaltenders.
