Jason Spezza won't play Saturday night because of a lower-body injury. He has recorded 30 points in 39 games to go with a minus-14 rating. Consider him day-to-day for now.

The Senators are losing and captain Jason Spezza says the team is feeling pressure. "It's clear that we're feeling the pressure right now, we're feeling the heat," Spezza said. "We want to try to win hockey games. Our effort is there but we don't execute, we don't play loose enough with the puck . we're scared to make mistakes at the end. That's the position we've got ourselves in, so we have to find a way to get out."

Jason Spezza ended his goal drought by scoring in Ottawa's 4-2 loss to Florida on Thursday. The goal was the first in 13 games for the Senators captain, who now has 11 on the season. Chris Neil also chipped in with his fifth of the year in the loss.

Jason Spezza recorded two assists in Ottawa's 4-3 shootout loss on Saturday. Spezza has 10 goals and 25 points in 29 games this season. He should be able to pick up the pace a touch as the campaign progresses and flirt with the 80-point mark.

With the Red Wings scheduled to play in Ottawa Sunday, Jason Spezza hopes that the Senator faithful give former captain Daniel Alfredsson a warm welome. It will be the first time Alfredsson will play in Ottawa as a member of the opposition (he was injured for an earlier contest this season) and Spezza believes his ex-teammate deserves respect. "I would hope and expect they give him a nice ovation. He's done a lot for this organization. But once the game starts I would hope they're on our side." Spoken like a true hockey player.

Jason Spezza was the Ottawa Senators' lone goal scorer in a 4-1 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes on Sunday. Spezza has 10 goals and 10 assists for 20 points in 23 games this season, bouncing back nicely from injury issues. His plus/minus has suffered with Ottawa's fate lately, as he's accrued -6 of his cumulative -9 in the last four games.

Jason Spezza will be looking to get on track against the Red Wings Saturday night. The Sens' top center has not been playing well as of late registering only two points in the team's last seven games. Spezza's puck control has also been severely criticized. To his credit, Spezza remains upbeat. He indicated that he understands why he is taking heat for his play "but that he's developed some pretty thick skin over the years". Spezza is too good a player to give up on. Be patient.

Jason Spezza is focused more on winning and playing two-way hockey than he is with scoring points. He has spoken with coach Paul MacLean about being more responsible defensively, but that doesn't mean that his production will suffer. "I find a way to get points," said Spezza. "I've got to be good on the power play. I've always found a way to get points. It's one thing to talk about, as your career goes on, points not being as important. It's the reality now for me. I'm trying to work on other other parts of my game." The Ottawa captain has earned eight goals and 16 points in 16 games this season despite playing with several different linemates.

Jason Spezza is projected to start Tuesday's match between Colin Greening and Mika Zibanejad. "I'm looking to get stable linemates for everybody, not just Jason Spezza," coach Paul MacLean said. Milan Michalek will skate with Zack Smith and Chris Neil, while Cory Conacher will join Matt Kassian and Derek Grant on the fourth line. The Senators have shuffled their combinations frequently of late, but for the most part Bobby Ryan has played with Kyle Turris and Clarke MacArthur and that unit will remain intact.
