Jason Spezza isn't particularly concerned about the trade rumors surrounding him. "I've been around for a long time now and at this time of year there's a lot of names that get thrown out there. It is something you grow to expect over time," said Spezza. "I don't think ever feel ... I don't know what the word is to use ... Anybody can be traded anytime put it that way." Spezza would certainly command a high price, but the odds of the Senators trading their team captain are slim. Ottawa GM Bryan Murray also said that they haven't discussed a Spezza trade despite the rumors that have been floating around.

Ottawa GM Bryan Murray vehemently denied rumors that the Senators are looking to trade Jason Spezza. "I think the thing that really bothers me - I've got all kinds of calls and texts and questions on that now - some guy that I don't know, put it out on Twitter that we're shopping Jason Spezza, and everybody in the world now, every other media guy, grabs that and goes ... I had one guy ask me if I wanted to comment to quiet the rumors, I said no. I'm not going to ... the more I say about it, the more it's going to be played over and over the next couple days, so I'll just say that we have not talked, at this point in time, about Jason Spezza." Sounds like Murray quieted the rumors with that rant. Spezza has 15 goals and 46 points in 56 games this season.

Jason Spezza has been one of the hottest NHL players the past three weeks. In his last 11 games he has registered 13 points which is seventh in the league over that time period. Spezza seemed to be hampered by hip and back problems earlier in the season which may have affected his performance. It appears those ailments have subsided. Start him with confidence going forward.

Jason Spezza seems to finally be rounding into form. He seemed to be bothered by hip and back injuries early in the season and his performance suffered. However, in Spezza's last five games the talented pivot has scored two goals and registered seven points. That's more like the Spezza we know. If you have a disgruntled Spezza owner in your pool, now is the time to get him for cheap.

Jason Spezza hasn't been happy with his 2013-14 so far. "It's been a frustrating year for me, individually, but I just have to keep plugging along," he said. "We have a lot of games left to play, and I think I've got better here in the last 10 games and I've felt better with my game." Spezza has produced two goals and four assists during his past 10 outings to give him 35 points in 47 games. He has played with several different linemates this season and in Tuesday's practice he was between Erik Condra and Colin Greening. There's still time for him to rebound, but playing with Senators with more talent would certainly help.

Ottawa coach Paul MacLean has shuffled his lines for Saturday afternoon's game against Carolina. Jason Spezza will center a line featuring wingers Milan Michalek and Mika Zibanejad, while Stephane Da Costa will centre a unit with Erik Condra and Cory Conacher o the wings. MacLean kept the Booby Ryan- Kyle Turis-Clarke MacArthur line intact. Colin Greening, Zack Smith and Chris Neil will make up the team's fourth unit. Adjust your roster accordingly.
